Does anyone else here like James Stokoe's art? When I first saw it, it seemed way too busy (which, to be fair, it is!) but eventually I could appreciate the skill and his story-telling is pretty good. His creator owned mini, Orphan and the Five Beasts is what finally made me a fan. Fun comics! Some pencil commissions: Spider-Man 2099 Panel from his creator owned series, Orphan and the Five Beasts: His Godzilla is EPIC! X-Force cover

Never heard of him, but he's very good indeed. Has that Art Adams "too damn many lines" thing about his work, but I like it.

The line density is just way too high for me to think it's really good for a comics format. And even his manga pages are way more dense than usual. He's technically proficient, but there's a less is more thing that I prefer that he doesn't get - and I know, this is the more modern art style, so it might be a me problem.

I love all that stuff, except maybe the Ivy picture. That hetic linework reminds me more of Geof Darrow than Arthur Adams, though. I see more manga/Heavy Metal Magazine influence sthan mainstream Marvel/DC.

Another one for the I-appreciate-the-level-of-skill-but-it's-not-for-me department here. And what others have said above about the unusual line density being too much for good comics storytelling.
Where it's toned down, as in that "Orphan and the Beasts" sample, the art seems to work pretty well.
James Stokoe must REALLY love to draw!

It's really only the excessive lines that remind me of Adams, not anything to do with his style.

I think he's very talented and there is an appeal, but it's just way too dense for my tastes.
Arthur Adams used a lot of lines as well, but he's really good about using line weights to add clarity to his drawings, so I don't find them nearly as overwhelming as this stuff.
