I just came back from seeing it tonight. It came from my favorite Grindhouse trailer, even though it was not actually played most other places with Grindhouse, but it won an award. I needed to see it, so I took leave from the original movie group I was going to go with to see Sucker Punch and went off to watch it. I am happy with my choice, it was good...well good is actually the worst word for it ever.
The Canadian references made me giddy, certain attention to detail in recreation made me giddy. Some scenes made me have to look away and make uncomfortable noises, but that's okay. Most people will hate it, it is a very acquired taste. You need to go in expecting to be grossed out by gore, well most people do, I suppose there are a few here who might not find any of it to be outstandingly gross.
The original trailer for those who didn't see it or don't remember.
Sucker Punch looks good and all, though most of my friends left the movie saying they hated it, Ians description of it interested me more than the trailers did. I'm still glad I went to see this instead. I do want to see the other movie though.
Hah I don't know that I'd call it a classic, well I don't know what I'd call it and I'm not even going to recommend it to anyone, cause really I have no idea who it would be who would like this. It's got it's flaws, but well it's kind of critic proof by nature of the intent. I enjoyed it anyway.
Hey cool you went to school with one of the Trailer Park Boys? I enjoy that show, or at least intermittently. It can get a bit too much for awhile but then I come back to it and remember how much I like it.
