Posted 'cause I put it in the Neal Adams thread, and it made me think of that "bat-radia" thing from Morrison's Batman. This is one of my favorite things, when they "remake" a moment from an old comic-book. But it's not a flashback, or a thing that the characters are aware of. It's just for the fans, the same thing happening again.

Besides, in the original, 'door' is printed twice.

Obviously, Scott's visor is too tight around his temples and is cutting off the oxygen to his brain thereby affecting his memory.

Send my no-prize to the usual address.

Well, with the changes in the hallway's width, coloring, height of the wainscoting, design of the carpet...

not unimaginable for the guy in the rose colored glasses to get it wrong.

Plus, nothing in the second scene even suggests to me that Scott doen't know what's behind that door. Jean just seems to be assuming that he's forgotten where it leads.

Since they were copying the orignal, I'd say their hands were tied, or else there went the joke.

Better to have Scott say, "Ah ha! I hear some noise in the Danger Room."

The "don't you remember" is clunky.
