Maybe voice actors have an advantage over the others, maybe a disadvantage--couldn't keep them off the list.

At least once.

But that's how things are.

I guess this is the first one to include Michael Emerson, so that is something.

Pleasantly surprised Luke Skywalker leads the pack, though not sure how long that will last.

Wrong answer.. But good.

I went with Hamill. Though Hamill himself would probably disagree, as he felt that there wasn't anymore he could do with the role after seeing Ledger's performance.

The correct answer is Cesar Romero.

If we limit ourselves to pre-1970 Jokers, yes. ;-)

I'm very disappointed in the outcome of this poll. Mark Hamill's not even real.

Cesar Romero *is* the Joker.

Must resist the temptation to add this guy to poll:

Matthew Modine was in The Dark Knight Rises, by the way. He was the cop Jim Gordon shamed into leading his men to attacking Bane's army at the climax of the film.

To criticise Mark Hamill's performance in the TV cartoon is like criticising Brian Cox's performance as Hannibal Lector in Manhunter. It's not Hamill's fault that a later actor gave a better performance in the same role because it doesn't change the fact the Hamill is good, and make you forget this was Luke Skywalker.

I think Romero, Hamill, Nicholson and Ledger all did fantastic jobs and fit the motion pictures/television shows they were cast in perfectly. Nicholson's performance is one of my favorite in all of film and Ledger's is right up there as well, but the tones are so distinct that I feel it is hard to compare. Christian Bale and Adam West were both great Batmen, but for different reasons.

I don't like them to have real names, either.

Can't decide between Hamill or Ledger, so I'm abstaining for now.
