Why do you like what you like?

Prefer the pros. I don't really understand the structure of collegiate football.

Pro. I don't even watch college football, unless it's just "on" in the background at a bar or something. Too many leagues, too many bowls, not enough interest.

College and Pro equally.

My enjoyment peaks back and forth. Overall, college. College football is like a religion in these parts. It's such a great experience, enjoying something that almost everyone enjoys and can talk about, and connect over.

But the purity of the game, and the "soap opera" of the NFL -- I love it. It's a year round sport. Always something to follow. I get Direct Ticket and watch as many games as I can.

I've been meaning to ask you, Jay -- without a team you root for, how do you decided which games to watch on Sunday mornings and afternoons?

Pros. The whole college overtime thing is confusing and stupid.

Er...actual pro. I like watching my college team, but I generally enjoy watching all pro teams.

Best matchups, usually.

Out of habit, I watch the Panthers. They're the closest thing to a "home" team for me. Runner up is the Falcons (there were no Panthers when I was growing up, and the Falcons were the next closest team). I like to watch Denver, because I got very familiar with their roster during the Tebow era, and now they have Peyton and are fun to watch. I like to watch the Patriots play. If a team is giving a young quarterback a shot, I'll watch (like, for example Russel Wilson or Jake Locker).

Just anything -- there are always one or two really good matchups in the first block and the second. (It's not Sunday morning, though -- games start at 1:00 on the East coast).

Yeah, I'm on the East Coast, I don't know why I said "mornings".

Around here college football is a holiday every home game weekend. Watching the Saints the next day is sort of the awesome icing on the cake.

College. More fun, more emotion, more meaning to those involved, wins and losses weigh more, you only get one shot at a team, more fun to ponder and anticipate match-ups, and that whole Football Saturday thing on campus and throughout town.

Pro. It's more manageable to keep track of the fortunes of 32 teams than over a hundred.

I am not a sport's guy, but I follow college football more than any other sport by far.

I just vaguely keep track of one team. It's super easy. You can tell whether or not the Buckeyes won based on the intensity of the riots following each game.

College football when I was in college, for sure. The Pros since then. Doesn't help that Indiana football teams haven't been super-good in a long time (except Notre Dame, and they don't count).

Pro-football no question. The reason: The talent level is more even; The players will stick around for more than four years; the speed and violence of the game is far greater, in addition to the skill level.

That's another reason. Too many teams and for the longest time no real way to pick the "real" champion. The bowl system was the biggest deterent, for gaining my interest.

Is the playoff system coming this season, or next?

What kind of self-respecting team plays their football games on a blue carpet, anyway?

The bowl system is a cluster fuck of confusion designed to drum up ratings rather than definitively establish a champion.

I like the do or die aspect of college football.

Tony Romo misses the playoffs again and he just shrugs and cashes a ridiculous paycheck before saying, "We'll get there next year."

In college you'll have some guys who only have a couple of years of starts. For most their senior season is the end of their football careers.
