Yes, yes... I know it's "groos." But back before the internet a lot of people, including the crew of the USS Trepang, thought it was "Bruce" and used the song to make fun of a clumsy shipmate named "Bruce."
Besides "Alex the Seal" my favorite misheard title lyric is "Bingo Jed Had A Light On."
