My old history teacher, who was also a Vietnam vet, said to our class, "Never kowtow to anybody!" We were only two in that class who would even consider the kowtow.

If it was to gain a lot, I might be persuaded to kowtow a little. Or if it was to keep from losing a lot (such as, "kowtow or die!!"), I might have to do that thing.

Haven't had to since my ex left. Didn't actually gain anything then except for temporary respites from trouble.
If I had to for the good of our library I would.

Got a major project in the planning stages at work that would require kowtowing to several local agencies to get it done. Looks like I may get a lot of practice!
