Yesterday I bug bombed my house. When I returned from work there were little (and not so little) six-legged carcasses lying everywhere. I swept up half a dustpan full of them! :dazed:

I don't know why I have so much trouble with them. I live alone in a house that I keep reasonably clean. I don't have filthy neighbors. My dog isn't infested. I will say that I live in a pretty buggy town.

At any rate maybe I'll get a relief after this blitz.

I've had ants and moths this summer. I got a can of ant/roach killer which has done the trick with the ants. I've also been able to kill the huge ancient roach that's been frequenting my apartment the last couple years. Turns out the moths has laid their eggs in the birdcage bedding and I had little caterpillars in there. Ick!

We get spiders and scorpions. Last year I went to lay down to go to sleep about 2:30 am one weekend and as I put my foot up on the bed, I felt like I had put my ankle on a razor blade. I jumped up and turned on the light to see about a 1-1/2" scorpion on our bed.

I was not happy.

We had a 3 month plan with an exterminator, but he was flaky on showing up, so I never renewed it.

This year I ran downstairs to the yelling of Judge Jr. and my wife. Judge Jr. was in the shower and my wife was keeping an eye on him. About a 2" scorpion right near the sink cabinets.

My wife was not happy.

Needless to say, we now have a year round exterminator come. Not the flaky one, either.

We got flies again this year.
MASSIVE amounts of flies.
We think something got into the basement durring one of the storms a while back, and ended up breathing its last down there.
Soon, the window from the kitchen to the basement stairs was covered in big black flies. It was like something out of the Amityville Horror.
No stink though, fortunately.

Also the kitties have fleas.
Not much on the spider front so far. (with the exception of the giant wolf spider from a few weeks back).

Little remedy for the flies. Take a Ziplock bag, fill it about halfway with water, drop a couple pennies in it, and hang it in the room. Believe it or not, it works.

Ron, you're just filled with home-spun remedies!

Would this work on Robbie's feet, too?

Is this thread title sung to the tune of Queen's Flash Gordon theme?

I guess it WOULD fit that....

No, you'll get a better idea of how to pronounce it from listening to some "Peanuts" TV specials.

If his feet have flies, sure.

We tried the penny in the bag trick in the nursery office/lunchroom, haven't seen a fly in there since.

Now who wants to know how to protect there plants from deer and keep skunks out of their yards.

The best thing about moving out of NYC is no more bugs.

Strangely, this was my thought as well. And I hardly ever watched that show.

How does it work? We haven't had a fly problem this year, or any other bugs, thankfully, but I'm still curious. At my old house in a rural area, we'd have flies part of the year, almost as bad as Hugh describes, and ladybugs another part, thicker than you could imagine. I don't miss that stuff at all!

No idea. Somebody at work found it...not sure if it was online. They have the bag thumb-tacked to the wall, have not seen a fly in there since. And they used to get tons because the guys that would eat in there are pigs and the door is always open.
