I think Dynamite might be my favorite comics company right now.

I'm re-reading the Helfer run currently(up to the last two parts of Seven Deadly Finns with art by Kyle Baker). The covers look promising.

That cover is definitely on the right track.

Dynamite is putting out some quality stuff, for sure.

From what I gather privately, they are brutal behind the scenes in pursuing these licensed properties.

That's business tho. :)

I'd love them to get the Tarzan license.

I'm sure they are negotiating tirelessly for that

Without licensed properties, they'd have nothing going on.

True, but to me that's not a bad thing. They are like a modern version of Gold Key Comics.

I agree.

Nothing wrong with good, or at least decent, comics based on licensing.

Compared to the godawful Star Trek comics that IDW publishes, I can only wish Dynamite could steal THAT license from them and raise them to the level of decent.

Who's got Tarzan right now? Dark Horse?

They're the last I heard.

I figured that the John Carter license at Dynamite was the first sign that Tarzan was on his way. :)

I think that Dynamite is doing an unlicensed version of the public domain John Carter stories.

Marvel's version looks more licensed.

Does Marvel's tie in to Disney's upcoming film?

Are they? If that were the case, I would expect them to be already doing Tarzan then because they could base it only on the first book which has lapsed into public domain (can't remember if the second has lapsed yet).

If they're afraid of trademark infringement, they can do just like they did with John Carter, where they call the title "Warlord of Mars". They could just call it "Lord of the Apes" or some such.

I'll content myself with Joe Jusko and Frank Frazetta's interp of Carter and the world of Mars.

*unless the movie comes out and surprises me in a massive way*

If Dynamite and Boom merged, they'd be the perfect comic company :)

I like it.

*'course I prefer Farmer's Wold Newton concept that both The Shadow, The Spider, and G8 were actually the same person*
