So I'm playing God of War (the first one) on the PS2, right? And I'm pretty far along. And I'm at this point where I have to drag and kick this block of wood around the corner of this cavern before all these metal spikes come up out of the floor and kill my violent anti-hero face.

I can't do it in the time provided.

I've done this thing a gazillion times and I cannot do it.

I bought the Matrix game for X-Box and could never get past the Helicopter spraying me in the airport. I just kept getting murdered.

There's a level where you have to make it through an underground waterway and make it past a lot of troops. You can only take so much damage and it's a long level. I played that over and over and over again. Took me forever. I'd get so close and then they'd get me. I'd have successes at one point and then blow it at another. It was quite maddening.

BUT I BEAT IT!!

That level was harder for me than the entire game. The final moments were nothing compared to that.

Or maybe this will help:
In this cave, there's nothing but a long, hard battle. There are tons of Undead
Warriors, and a fistful of Satyrs. There's also some stairs that lead to another
floor of this cave, but there's nothing but some enemies that you don't have to
confront, and a green chest up there. Only go there if you really need the
health. As for taking out the enemies, Rage of the Gods works great if you have
it; Let loose with it, and kick some ass. Rage of Poseidon and Army of Hades
also help; Especially if you upgraded the Blades of Chaos to level five, and
have the ability to use infinte magic while in Rage of the Gods mode. After you
wipe out all of the enemies on the ground level of the cave, a wall of fire
blocking the doorway to your left will be distinguished. When that happens,
walk through the hallway, to reach another outside-area. There, walk to the
left to find another elevator platform. Grab the crank on it, and turn it so
that you are brought to a platform above, then use the save point on your left
to save your game, before you head into the next cave in front of you.

Head to the right side of this room, to where there's a caged off box. Pull
the lever next to the grating, and it will be lifted; But the door behind you
will be locked. You'll also hear a ticking sound -- and being as there's
holes with spikes in them all along the ground, that's not a good sign! Quickly,
pull the box out of the room it's in, and get behind it. Then, charge kick it
away from the room it was in, then kick it again, into the hallway branching
off of the room. Finally, kick it once more, so that it's against the wall over
there. Then, before the spikes shoot up, jump onto the box, and then do a
double jump onto the ledge above. You should be saved just in a nick of time.
From there, open a red chest on your left, then jump to the vines on the wall
ahead, and pull yourself up to the platform above. There, you'll see a second
pedestal with a necklace on it. Press R2, to take the Necklace of Aphrodite.
After you do this, the exit door will become unlocked, and the spikes will
retract back into the ground. So, jump down, and leave the same way you came in.

As you face the window there is a monument structure in front of you and two walls
coming inwards on the left and right. Get close to the right hand wall, this will
protect you from the helicopter fire. This boss like others follows a pattern.
First it will strafe left past the window shooting, stay next to the right wall to avoid
being hit.
At the far left of its run it will turn 180 degrees and start heading back right, this is
your chance. Use focus to get as much time as possible and get to the window,
open fire with preferable the M240 (DROP hack) if you have it if not then the MP5.
The M240 Will take the chopper down in seconds! If however you are stuck with
the MP5 then you have some work to do. Try to get at least 2 full clips into the
chopper as it heads to the right. Now turn around, If you have any grenades wait
1 second then through them towards the Pentium 4 sign on the wall.
This is the third part, 4x swat guys will fast rope down through the ceiling.
Take them out as best you can, try to keep your focus up by fighting, the grenade
will help. When you have head back to the right hand wall where you started.
The pattern will start again. Repeat this about 3 times to finish it off.
Once the chopper is down, some swat will open the back right side of the room,
take them out and go through. Past gate W4 and through the shop. Take out the
swat at the far end asap while they are in a group. At the far end head up the stairs

You might like to try flying the Hydra upside-down for a change.

You can point the thrusters at an angle for a slow forward speed. The Hydra
jolts for an instant when you go from hover mode to jet mode or back (Thanks to
GTA_Phreak).

The GTA games certainly do!
You can drive around in the oldest clunkiest car (like a Perinnal-That's an old station wagon), and not be able to do squat, but if one of the bad guys in a mission is driving one, you can't outrun it, it's 100 times more sturdy, and will continue to chase you to hell and back. Same with Cop cars. when they are after you it's like they are stuck to you with rubber bands, but you heist one, and it drives like a clunker.
The physics are different when the computer is running the enemy cars.

That's just it -- I can't seem to do it in the time they provide. And I've tried to do this just shy of a hundred times now.

There is a mission in Driver 3, where you have to chase a car through the streets of Istanbul, and you can't get more than a few car lengths behind or it will say you lost the car, and you have to start over. Even when you are RIGHT THERE, and can still SEE the damn thing.
I kid you not, it took me over 1000 tries to finally catch the guy.

Oh and bump nearly 3 years later!

I finally got past this room only to be stuck in the next timed puzzle afterwards... the one where you have to jump across four moving platforms while dodging the rotating blades, then run across the room before the door closes. It's been three years now.
