Over the last couple of weeks, I've seen a lot of negativity in comicsland, especially around Civil War, Spider-man, and the X-men. Having recently come to the conclusion that it's not worth the energy to dwell on stuff in comics I don't care about, and don't like, I thought I'd point out some of the things I like in comics right now. Feel free to share your own.
So, without further ado:
to Joe Kubert's incredible 46 years writing Sgt. Rock
to Kurt Busiek and Geoff Johns making me enjoy Superman for the first time in a long time
to Batman being a detective, in Detective Comics
to Simone on BoP, Simonson on Hawkgirl, and Willingham on Fables
to Green Arrow vs. Deathstroke, and Todd vs. Grayson
to the Young Avengers, and to the Thunderbolts. To Red Sonja, and Conan.
to people who don't always care that the direct market, the talent, and the video game are killing superhero comics
and
:yay::yay::yay: to IMWAN, my second favourite, and the first friendliest, web site on the net.
Have a Day.

Yay for Planet Hulk. I'm more excited about one of my childhood favorites than I've been in a long while.
That's because the rest of the industry has the stench of death and . . . Wait!! What am I saying? YAY!!

I so feel like I am joining the right place at the right time. I noticed I hadn't seen some familiar, interesting and friendly faces at another board and end up discovering many of them over here.
A rocking big "yeah!" to you guys for creating a very friendly place.
And a dancing smiley (I don't know how to do those yet) to...
Ultimate Marvel
Last Planet Standing
All Star Superman
Astonishing X-Men
Eternals #1 (very excited about this!)

To Marvel's best writer, Dan Slott, continuing great work on my favorite character. While it is not getting New Avengers numbers, sales are fairly decent and in October the book will equal the run of the original Savage She-Hulk. Might it be too much for me to hope it eventually surpasses the run of Sensational She-Hulk? (60 issues)
Speaking of which, Marvel is selling The Essential Savage She-Hulk today. If sales are good for this, hopefully there will a color trade reprint in the future. (Either in the Masterworks series, or as a softcover trade.)
And in what will be good news for many fans here, Marvel is close to finishing printing up the Hulkster's run on the FF, when he added a certain green heroine to the mix. (No, I'm not talking about Lyja!) Volume 6 is due in September, and the last volume will probably come out in 2007.

to the Jay Garrick, the original and best Flash
to Joe Kubert's incredible 63 years in comics.
to Batman being a detective in Detective Comics (and not just the strong arm outside of the law)
to Great Lake Avengers and Squirrel Girl
to Simone on BoP, Simonson on Hawkgirl, and Willingham on Fables
to Green Arrow vs. Deathstroke (I cheered when he kicked some butt!)
to Spider-Girl and Last Planet Standing
to Dan Slott on the Thing and She-Hulk
to Alex Ross, Jim Krueger, and Doug Braithwaite for a series I am still enjoying, Justice
to my local comic store, where my friend, the owner and manager (just one guy, not three) still loves the business he is in
to comics character movies which I still go see after collecting comics for 34 years.
to DVD collections of series of books and movies I have loved for years.
to my friends at IMWAN who make me laugh, who make me think (even if it's corny jokes), who make me remember a lot of what I enjoy in comics and life.
Lots of 's in general
Oh, and to Power Girl

Last fall, the announcer for the high school football games I attended would use plethora over and over... "And there's Joe Blow being tackled by a plethora of Bulldogs!"
