Bannings: fear taste?
My grandmother is turning 95 in a month, and we are doing a powerpoint slideshow for her. One picture has her hidden behind a ladder at Montezuma Castle, but with the clothes she's wearing you can barely see her. I'd like to show the slide and have people see if they can spot her, and then drop the focus on just her. Either do a spotlight on her or bring the picture in just so that all you see is her behind the ladder.

Bannings: Bannings? We don't need no stinkin' bannings!
Couldn't you just have one slide with the unmodified picture, and the the next slide is identical except it has the picture as modified by Photoshop to emphasize Granny?

I have another option, but you'll need a smoke machine and enough 3-D glasses to go around.

This is how it would be done. Or, more likely, the second modified picture would animate in on the same slide (with one of many custom animation effects).

Make a version of the picture that's the same size, but has the emphasis you want. You could use Photoshop or Gimp or even Paint. Then paste it on the slide and align it where it needs to go.

Then find the menu selection somewhere that says animate or custom animation (I think you can get there by right-clicking on the photo). You'll have the only animated object be that last picture, and it can fade in slowly, whatever.

If that doesn't suit, just use the draw menu in powerpoint to make a circle around her. Then animate the circle -- it will draw itself like a circle or something.

I can do that, Jay. Cool.
