I just read the second trade (I read the first several years ago) of Gary Spencer Milledge's "Strangehaven." It's hard to know quite what to say about it. I've seen it likened to "Twin Peaks," which it certainly reminds one of. The photorealistic artwork is impressive (though I don't think the expressions on people's faces are always quite what he was going for). There's something oddly compelling (or compellingly odd) about the whole thing. You certainly see things here you aren't likely to see anywhere else--like a German-accented Santa Claus delivering presents in August, a local eccentric who claims to be a member of an Amazonian tribe, and a philandering husband who receives an unexpected (and highly unencouraging) message from Basil Fawlty.

Has anybody else ever read this?
