I've loved making mix tapes/CD's for years. With MP3's it's even easier to do and get instant gratification on the quality of the mix.
Share with us some of your ideas on songs you think go well together. Put together around 10 - 20 songs you have mixed together before or will in the future.
If you come up with other mixes later, then post those, too.

I built this one around the first two songs. I like the instrumentals of both songs and have wanted to do a mix with them for a while.
Fire On High - ELO
Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding - Elton John
Superstars - STYX
I'm So Afraid - Fleetwood Mac
Foreplay/Long Time - Boston
Somebody to Love - Queen
Lady Cab Driver - Prince
Skateaway - Dire Straits
Get Yourself Another Fool - Sam Cooke
Love Light in Flight - Stevie Wonder
I'll Wait - Van Halen
You Belong to the City - Glenn Frey

You pick a Monkees song and it's one from Justus?
That's just wrong.
Excellent choices by the Beatles, Raiders (Fang didn't sing enough, IMO), and Love, though. Three of my favorite songs to sing in the shower.
Oop, ip ip, oop, ip ip, YEAH! Or whatever the hell Arthur sings there.

I bought the Nuggets boxed set sometime during the late 20th Century, and a completely new world of classic rock was opened up. However, Rhino screwed me on the boxed set. After I had ordered it, I discovered that a couple of songs were missing from the discs, most notably Time Has Come Today. When I checked the Rhino website it turns out that some songs were only available if you bought the discs seperately. SO here I spend money on this niced chunky boxed set (which usually comes with additional material) that I have to buy at least one or two of the individual discs to get everything.
And that was the day I became a man.

I say without hesitation that each of the Nuggets box sets changed my life. The second one probably more so. I would have been unaware of great Latin American bands like We All Together, Os Mutantes, and especially Los Shakers, were it not for Nuggets Vol. II.
And who can forget Japan's The Mops?
"When I walk in the street
Everybody
Say he's a Mops
but I don't care of them
for I am just a Mops!"

Right after I bought my first CD burner, I made my own 2-disc "best of" set for Blue Rodeo. I had a Jim disc and a Greg disc. The Jim disc included a song or 2 from his Solo album, but I didn't do the same for Greg, since his solo album was so frickin' weird. When I get home, I'll try to dig it out and compare my playlist to Rob's.

Hank, my Blue 'Best of' is currently a Part 1 (i.e. from 'Outskirts' thru 'Lost Together') -- Part 2 is pending. I don't plan on including solo stuff.
Regarding Greg's solo album ('Gone'), my wife and I saw him perform solo at Trinity Church in Toronto -- incredible. I haven't listened to the album in years, but 'Motherless Child' (?) is a stand out and I remember enjoying 'White Marble Ganesh' (?) quite a bit.

Okay, here're those playlists-
Here's the Greg disc:
1. Outskirts
2. Diamond Mine
3. 5AM
4. Last Laugh
5. Lost Together
6. Hasn't Hit Me Yet
7. What Is This Love?
8. Side Of The Road
9. Get Through To You
10.Train
11.Me & Baz
12.Disappear
13.Brother Andre's Heart/Frog's Lullaby
The Jim Disc:
1. Underground
2. How Long?
3. Now And Forever
4. Fall In Line
5. Til I Am Myself Again
6. Trust Yourself
7. After The Rain
8. Flying
9. Head Over Heels
10.Better Off As We Are
11.Blew It Again
12.Armour
13.I Could Never Be That Man
14.Dragging On
15.Disappointment
16.All In Time
17.Trouble
Jim gets more songs because his are shorter. If I had it to do again, I'd probably drop Train and Side of the Road in favor of Western Skies and Moon & Tree. And obviously, I made this shortly after Jim released his solo album, so there's nothing from Days In Between or Palace Of Gold. Hard to say what I'd juggle to get stuff from those albums on there.

Ah, Blue Rodeo, so many great songs, so little space on recordable CDs to put them all. I need an iPod.
Here's my Part 1 CD (note: I droppped 'Diamond Mine' in order to squeeze on a couple extra tunes -- in retrospect, I would have left off 'House of Dreams' and maybe 'Rebel').
1 Heart Like Mine
2 Rose Coloured Glasses
3 Rebel
4 Outskirts
5 Try
6 How Long
7 Now & Forever
8 House of Dreams
9 Til I Am Myself Again
10 What Am I Doing Here?
11 Montreal
12 Trust Yourself
13 After the Rain
14 Fools Like You
15 Rain Down On Me
16 Already Gone
17 Lost Together
18 Is It you?
Hard to believe all these great songs came from just four albums!!! I started putting together Part 2 and I think I'm going to have to leave 'Palace of Gold' out of the mix. Gah!
Hank, great choices up there man! The Greg/Jim disc split is inspired! I like it. Good to see you included 'Dragging On', definitely one of my favs.

Blue Rodeo part 2...
1 Hasn't Hit Me Yet
2 Head Over Heels
3 Bad Timing
4 Til I Gain Control Again
5 Side of the Road
6 Better Off As We Are
7 Sky
8 Blew It Again
9 Moon & Tree
10 Shed My Skin
11 Falling Down Blue
12 Disappear
13 Dragging On
14 Somebody Waits
15 Sad Nights
16 The Days In Between

Maybe a little ballad-heavy for my tastes, but definitely not a stinker in the bunch!
Good work, Rob! (and you too, Jim, Greg, Baz, Bobby, Cleave, Mark, Glenn, James, Kim & Bob!)

The wife likes the ballads...
... oh, who am I kidding? 'Air Supply' was my first favourite band after all -- at the ripe old age of 8. There! I'm out of the closet!!!
