Open question for you Superman fans: In Alan Moore's Superman Annual #11 story, "For the Man Who Has Everything," Wonder Woman gives Superman a replica of the Bottle City of Kandor near the end, saying the original had been "destroyed." Is this simply a device to emphasize how much Kandor means to Superman (being the last vestige of Krypton) or was there an actual Superman story that would have led Wonder Woman to make such a mistake?
As some of you know, this story was discussed rather recently on the JBF, but no one made mention of the disparity between the Liliputian Bottle City of Kandor and the statue representing Kryptonian utopian ideas which distracts Superman during the fight with Mongol. I think that disparity is why Superman was able to break free of the parasite. Anyone more acquainted with Superman history? Thanks!

There was a pre-Crisis story where Superman found a machine which
would be able to restor Kandor to normal size. The problem was
where to put this city. Then he discovered a planet, much like
Krypton that revolved around a red star. When Superman made it
to that planet he used the machine on Kandor & it grew to normal
size but then immediately all of homes & machines & stuff
disintegrated. It seems the machine only worked on biological
beings. Superman felt guilty that the Kandorians now had nothing,
& was going to stay on the planet to help them rebuild, but the
Kandorians forced Superman to return to Earth, saying he was
too needed there, & that they would rebuild on their own.
This planet insisted in some sort of dimensional vortex or something,
I don't remember the details (I'm going strictly be memory here), but
the it was only reachable once every few years, which is why they
forced Supes to leave before he got stuck there with them
for however long.
They named the planet "Rakinn" I think, which was Kryptonese for
"Rao's Gift." I remember reading some letters in the comics saying
that this whole thing cheapened the Superman mythos because it
basically restored Krypton. With the Internet now I can only imagine
the outcry this sort of thing would cause if it were attempted today.

Kandor was enlarged in Superman #338.

See this is is what is wrong with comics at the moment - have not moved with the technology.
If I was an illegal downloader I could be reading that issue in about 2 minutes, however if DC were to supply me....

Is "For The Man Who Has Everything" reprinted anywhere? I just watched the JLU adaptation (which was great) the other day, but I've never read the comic.
