Speaking of Grant, has anyone purchased the Absolute All Star Superman book? I was going to but can't really justify the cost with all the money we're spending to do the wedding next year and trying to pay down some debt I've accrued this year... but I'm really curious to see the extras this puppy has.

So I watched this documentary and I'm a little disappointed with some of the things that he revealed about his experiences, but not gravely so. It was neat to see where and how he lives and it was also neat to see some faces with names... like Frank Quietly, Phil Jimenez, Matt Fraction and Rich Johnston.

That one is going to take a few years. He has a couple dozen other videos to do first.

I got the DVD on Christmas Eve and watched it Christmas Day night. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I had already read Patrick Meaney's monograph on the Invisibles, Our Sentence Is Up, and he concludes that book with a long interview with Morrison conducted at his LA home which was also filmed. The documentary is made from that interview and a new one conducted at his Scottish home that he's bought with his wife relatively recently and is refurbishing; there are also a bunch of PTCs by artistic collaborators (Quitely, Phil Jimenez, Cameron Stewart, Chris Weston, Jill Thompson, Steve Yeowell and Fraser Irving), writer peers (Mark Waid and Warren Ellis), writer fans (Jason Aaron and Matt Fraction), employers (Dez Skinn, Karen Berger and Dan Didio), critical experts (Tim Callahan), pundits (Rich Johnston), friends and other randomers.

As I say, I enjoyed it, but it was an encomium, a hagiography; Meaney, who didn't appear on camera,* didn't ask any difficult questions of Morrison. I would have liked the film to have had more bite, been that little bit more disinterested in its angle.

Anyway, it's a very enjoyable 80 minutes. I recommend it!

*I much prefer humble presenters who remove themselves from their documentaries.

Is this the first time Morrison revealed the reason for his animosity towards Moore? His MarvelMan story was new to me.

I'm about 20 minutes into it. It's kinda hard to get through it, I find his Scottish accent pretty indecipherable
