One can only imagine time travel was involved.

Uh-oh. It's hard to tell on that scale, but my home region looks like it must be on or near the frontier between the Gorilla Communes and the Expanding Tiger Empire (Is the empire expanding, or is it an empire of tigers who expand? Either way it sounds dangerous!). It's probably going to be a war zone!

Kirby mapped out Kamandi's world in the first issue. He was still working on his Fourth World titles, plus the Demon (he'd just dropped off of Jimmy Olsen). I'm guessing that he didn't have a lot of time to think out a long term plan for Kamandi's series. So while he was penciling and writing the first issue (over three or four days), he went ahead and created the entire world that he would later have to flesh out, one issue at a time.

If everyone could get to the buried mystery city, it wouldn't be much of a mystery
now would it?

That is really - strange. What is a National Disaster? How can it change the course of all previous history?

I must say I am not too happy about living in the tiger empire. Especially since it is expanding.

Not really an acronym, either, since it doesn't spell a word (or something pronounceable).
Abbreviation.
