I never saw his children's show back in the day, but I'm certainly familiar with his work. The man reportedly took over 25,000 pies to the face in his career -- gotta admire that kind of fortitude for the sake of comedy. May he rest in peace.

Same here, but I do remember Soupy, mainly from cheesy daytime game shows and I do know that he was a significant figure to many here's childhoods.
