Did anyone else hear about this? This story is almost exactly one year old, I didn't hear anything at the time.

Yep; I remember it well. Rowling faced some criticism over it because she didn't actually spell it out in the final book, but instead announced it during a Q &A session months later.

Oh, the trailer looks very good.

Oh, never mind.

I don't know that the criticism is founded. If it had been put into the book it might have seemed forced and then she made a gay character for the purpose of having a gay character; it (obviously) wasn't necessary to move the story, so it is not needed. Within the book.

Too bad we have to wait til the summer. I blame Dark Knight.

I dunno, either. The whole thing might have remained only in her mind, but it somehow got out that she had made changes in the script for Half-Blood Prince that included the removal of some lines regarding a girl that Dumbledore had liked when he was a students at Hogwarts. That started a lot of speculation, and she chose to address it.

I blame the writers' strike.

There is that, too.

The fault lies in both of them.

Looks fantastic, but I'm a bit bummed because my favorite parts of the book were likely left out.

That trailer was awesome. AWESOME.

Soooo can't wait for these last three movies.

And I can't imagine why I'd care whether Dumbledore was gay or not.

Dumbledore being gay is indeed completely irrelevant.

And that trailer did nothing for me, it was alright, but I haven't dug any of the Potter movies so far (except the third one) so I think I'm just not very disinterested at this point, I'll still see it in theaters though.

The films are never as good as the books, but I still squeal like a little girl whenever they come out.
I hadn't noticed Dumbledore was gay from the books; cool.

Which is why it's silly that people would criticize her for not including it in the novel. Doesn't matter to me one way or the other.

That's because it's not in there! Rowling only mentioned that she saw Dumbledore as gay after the fact. Since she's the one who created the character she gets to do that, but it really isn't in any of the books as written.

I'm not sure I'm even going to bother watching them. The last several books were so bloated as to be almost unfilmable. IMHO, they also just weren't as much fun as the earlier entries in the series. To me, "Prisoner of Azkaban" was the peak of both the books and the movies.
