At long, long last, I finally watched this movie last night.
It really is as good as everyone says it is.

An excellent film treated unjustly at the box office. Maybe if Angela Lansbury had added a few songs to it....

It gives me further hope for THE INCREDIBLES, which shares much of the same creative team.

Iron Giant , apparently, was a case of a great movie with an awful trailer. I say "apparently" because the awful trailer kept me far away from the theaters, so I haven't seen it. -Comp

Ted Hughes -- any guy who can drive not one, but two wives to suicide by their own hands is okay in my book. Must've been a fun guy to hang out with.

Ted Hughes (1930-1998), British Poet Laureate, widowed husband of a suicidal woman you may have heard of by the name of Sylvia Plath. He was also married to another poetess who also offed herself, tho her name escapes me. Best known poem? "Hawk Roosting." Do a Google for it. A fine poem. Hughes wrote The Iron Giant, or rather, it was adapted from his prose or something.

It was ten years ago today that I first saw this movie in the theater, and I went back 4 more times to see it each with different people to spread my love of this film to them. It's official release date was yesterday the 6th, but I saw it at a matinee on Saturday afternoon. So, yes, this is somewhat a belated Happy Birthday ... I LOVE LOVE LOVE this film, still. Happy Birthday, Giant!

It's a great one, I've probably watched it 12-15 times myself. Final 10 minutes still get me. Vin Diesel's finest work, that's for sure.

It certainly is a wonderful film. I never saw it in the theater, but discovered it on DVD 5 or 6 years ago.
