Just saw it and don't get the critic's reviews. I thought it was boring and terrible and I usually LOVE Apatow's films. I loved 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up and Superbad (not the middle part though). This one did nothing for me.
See I can comment on other topics besides comic books.

That's disappointing. I kept hoping that "brand" of comedy would translate into different types of movies.
By the way, was it super-vulgar?

Some people loved it so who knows? You might like it. It was a lot of stoned jokes and over the top violence.

I honestly loved it (continuing my streak of being the Bizarro-Allen ). Much better than I expected, and I'm not a stoner at all but I laughed throughout the film.

First, my credentials: loved 40YOV, disliked Knocked Up, loved Superbad.
Saw this one yesterday with Dark Knight and neither one really worked for me, but I had the highest expectations for Pineapple Express. There were a few laughs (and some nice fight scenes) but overall it felt off. Not an instant DVD purchase for me.

See I can comment on other topics besides comic books. I don't think it was for you. It's supposed to be a Stoner's Action movie, although the budget is about half of what they wanted, because the subject matter severely limits the audience appeal. I thought it was okay, but I was always aware that this movie was not for me. The middle-age woman sitting a few seats down from me walked out at about the hour mark. Guess it really wasn't for her. Most of the stoner humor was lost on me, which is a big chunk of the movie. The action parts were pretty good and I did like the actor who played the dealer.

I usually like all the Apatow films. Even Superbad (though I hated the Seth Rogen cop scenes, that dragged down the movie for me). And I loved Knocked Up. I even enjoyed Step Brothers. I wonder why they released them so close together.

When I left the movie, I thought about what would have been funnier. Imagine if the whole movie, NO ONE was after them, it was just paranoia from this mutant weed they were smoking. They basically have this whole adventure that doesn't exist, causing them to run away, freak out the girlfriend and family, ALL the crazy scenes for no reason. They jump over cars, do getaways etc. That could have been very funny.

See, one of the things that cracked me up is that they'd spout some insanely paranoid theory, like "What if they can triangulate the signals from our cell phones!??!", then 20 minutes later there's an offhand reference to the fact that they really did triangulate the signals from their cell phones.

I knew I wouldn't like it (not my kind of humor) but I saw it anyway. And I didn't like it.

I had insomnia tonight and watched this. I thought it was hilarious. Entertaining from almost start to finish. All the little throwaway lines and takes where just constant. Well cast and well-acted.

I liked it. It probably helps if you know people like the characters in the movie.

Meh. Pretty much all I laughed at was the over the top violence. Not terribly funny as stoner movies go. Franco did a great job acting like a pothead however. I think Allen's version with them being paranoid over nothing would have been hysterical.

Thought it was very stupid and unfunny. No Superbad.

The odd thing is that the "pot movie" angle detracted from it for me. I don't like stoner movies at all.
