Got it in the mail yesterday. It's purty.

Can't tell from that pic, but the Doctor & Rose and the logos are printed on a clear slipcover, and when you fold out the case, you get all 4 sides of theTARDIS. The inside is the interior of the TARDIS.

Dunno how soon any of it will get watched, 'cause I've seen each episode 4 or 5 times (or more - I've probably watched the last one about 7 or 8 times - it's really really good) but I wanted to make sure my dollars are supporting the show.

I'm about to move and can't quite justify making the purchase right now.

I sure do wish HBO and the BBC would bring their sets down to a reasonable price. Drives me nuts that I pay half as much for twice as much from FOX DVD sets. If they even brought it down to the same price, I'd be willing to look the other way on the "half as much" thing when purchasing.

I'm wondering if we won't see a couple surprise guest appearances in the Christmas special. The new girl starts in the first ep of season three where it's rumored that the Ice Warriors will make their return. So maybe we'll see the Doctor with a few other old companions in the Christmas special? It's also being speculated that the 2nd series will start being shown on Sci fi this fall during the season breaks of Stargate, etc.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure if Canada has caught up with the second series yet. That's how I got the first season DVD set so quickly, get the Canadian version via Amazon CA, region 1 and all. I'm very VERY pumped up about the big battle this weekend as it's something folks have been wanting for about 40 years. RTD has had this story planned to say goodbye to Rose from the beginning so it should be interesting. I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed the second series. The only slight lull for me came during the earlier Cyberman two parter (good but seemed too much like 'old' Who) and then the Idiot's lantern, a bit of a let down but everything's been pretty damn great since.

Season 28/2 starts on CBC October 9. Probably pretty close to when it starts in the US.

ahhh, they're learning! I knew Sci fi was in a bind considering Canada could steal some of their DVD sales. Sci fi has said that they were very happy with Who's ratings so maybe they'll catch up and we'll get the DVD sets a lot earlier. If they could get into the groove of showing them at the same time as in the UK, their ratings would probably go up if they eliminate the need for some of those who grab the bitTorrents....whoever them rascals are....

Okay, who spotted the EXTERMINATION in the coming attraction blurb at the end of "Fear Her". Saw one fan complaining about it, because it spoiled the big reveal at the end of "Army Of Ghosts".

Went back and took a look at it and sure enough, we see the famous effect (actually from this week's TARDISODE, not from the episode), but damn if I noticed the first time.

I noticed it but I figured it was from Torchwood's cannibalized tech. Obviously, Torchwood is not entirely working for the public good.

I did spot it in the preview but I was unsure whether it was a red herring trying to make me think it was the Daleks showing up when in reality it was Torchwood that had gotten it's hands on a Dalek gun....but in reality they DID throw me a red herring making me think all that when in reality..aw you know...but toward thend, the thought DID occur to me that the ball looked a bit like those sphere's in a Daleks casing........and then, BANGO!, although it still surprised me that after all this time, they're going to have the two biggies go at it...

Very, very sad ending. I liked that she got to say it, but he didn't.

And the last scene....WTF? She's cute. Too bad she's not the new Lovely Assistant, but she apparently has other plans.

ETA: best bit?
"You will identify yourselves."
"Daleks do not take orders."
"You have identified yourselves as Daleks."

I was hoping the Dalek would have said "Oh, bugger."

All in all, I liked the trash talk. I think there's gonna be a whole bunch of griping about it, though.

For a few minutes there, I thought The Master was going to pop out of the thingie.

Absolute best send-off for a Companion yet. I figured out most of it from the intro last week (knew they couldn't kill Rose if they telegraphed it like that)... knew from the "how rich?" conversation that she'd be relocating to the other Earth. Pitch-perfect send-off, right down to the fade-out. Not a single moment that betrayed any of the characters unlike almost every other send-off. Bit convienent with the Dad, not sure how he knew to pop in at that very second... but I'm not complaining... Rose would have gone to her death rather than hit the button that would seperate her from The Doctor.

And just when you think they're going to go off on a down note. The Runaway Bride.. YEATH!!!!

So, replaces the engagement of Jo Grant as my favorite Companion send-off, which I think had a lovely daughter comes of age quality about it.

Amazing season. Only two episodes I was a bit disappointed with (first Cyberman and "Fear Her"), and an Tennant is an amazing Doctor. Neck and neck with Tom Baker, and I think I give Tennant the edge for being the better written character.

I really hope Tennant has the guts to stick with the part for a long, long time - five years at least, if he doesn't go for the record.

I think he's enough of a fan of the show that he'd give it a go.

Now, like many Americans, I'll have to spend the next "one hundred seventy days" familiarizing myself with Catherine Tate. She seems lovely. Bummer she'll only be doing the one episode.

I'd figure four years of Tennant. Three years seems to be the typical run of things. I think he's enough of a fan that I think he'd want his run to be above average in length, and enough of an actor to not want to have the role dominate and define his career. If he goes four years, Pertwee and Baker would be the only ones to beat him

God, still buzzing on this episode.

Flat out nailed it. Can't think of anything they did wrong with it. Great pissing contest between the Daleks and the Cybermen... great bit with the head of Torchwood (but where was my Cyber-Cleavage?). Amazingly funny and touching. Large sections of it were pre-destined, but they didn't cheat and make it too easy. Two seasons of Doctor Who wrapping up in a single evening in a near-perfect package (damn it, no Cyber-Cleavage). Even managed to answer a bit of a question I had from last season's "Dalek".

This is not war... this is pest control.

Hmmm, the Limeys seem really annoyed about Catherine Tate.

Overnight, I downloaded the second season of The Catherine Tate Show. Seems a lot like Tracey Ullman. The Limeys all hated Bonnie Langford, too.

Oh, wait, they were right about that...

I'm kidding...I kinda liked Mel, but I liked Peri before her and Ace after quite a bit more. I like her better than say, Dodo, or Adric, or Nyssa the Wallpaper Girl.

Absolutely loved the ep. Cybermen vs Daleks! Only took them 40 years but so well done. Loved the last minute save and everything else. Loved the way they wrote out Rose and it looks to be a fun Christmas special. Tennant will go at least three years. Even then, it'd still only be Pertwee and Baker that will have gone longer but even though, I hope he stays longer, I'd be satisfied with three seasons. Better than Eccleston's doing only one.

I also liked that there was absolutely no ambiguity in that the Daleks would have completely crushed the Cybermen had their battle lasted more than an hour.

If it's only three years, you can add Hartnell into the list. He did the first three years and part of the fourth. Troughton finished out that one and did two more... so not quite three years. Davison follow Froughton's advice and left after three years. Colin Baker did two seasons. McCoy, three. So, three seasons is pretty much the typical run... only CB and Eccleston did fewer.
