:(

Director of the best teen movies ever (Ferris Bueller & The Breakfast Club) has left us.

Read it on CNN as a breaking news post.

Mine was not the generation he spoke to, but I was not beyond his influence. Rest in peace.

I was a little too old for a lot of his movies - but some just hit the spot.

Gawd, only 59.

RIP.

Sad news. I saw a few of his films back in the day. I may have even seen Sixteen Candles at the theater.

This sucks.

The guy was a genius. He helped other directors and writers with their movies without credit IIRC.

He made the best date movies ever.

Liked just about every one I'm aware of, except Home Alone.

My favorite is Some Kind of Wonderful.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Some Kind of Wonderful were two of my all-time favorite movies. Very sad news.

I've probably seen Some Kind of Wonderful about 15 times, which for me is a whole, whole lot.

By the way, I'm Eric Stoltz in that movie. Which character are you? (You can cross genders, put that aside).

I'm a bit Eric Stoltz. Much more of an influence, though, was Mary Stuart Masterson's character. To this day I have a thing for girls with short blond hair, punkish girls, and girls who play instruments - all directly traced back to her. Strangely, I was just telling someone about that yesterday.

From Ferris Bueller's Day Off I'm easily Cameron.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles is my favorite, Ferris Beuller and Vacation also hold up to several repeated viewings. His movies were always amazingly quotable, and had some great soundtracks.

I read this:

Quote:
His greatest legacy, Kipen said, was in "forever changing how teenagers behave onscreen. Without 'Ferris Bueller,' you wouldn't have the alienated teenage antihero that Wes Anderson did, frankly, so much better in a movie like 'Rushmore.' Without 'Sixteen Candles,' it's kind of hard to imagine an admittedly better picture like 'Juno,' which also captured that alienated teenage heroine quite so empathetically. Hughes did not make movies for the ages, but who ever owned a decade the way he owned the 1980s?"

in his obit here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... id=artslot

What a shit ass thing to put in an obituary.
