Which is the nerdiest: nerd, geek, dork, or dweeb? I quite like the word "dweeb". I'll vote for "dweeb". :ohyes:

How nerdy are you? Did you ever ask yourself that question? Test your nerdiness here: http://www.nerdtests.com/ft_nq.php

Version 2.0 of the Nerd Test for the advanced nerds! http://www.nerdtests.com/ft_nt2.php

Another fun test here, how long will your relationship last? http://www.nerdtests.com/mq/uttake.php?id=54394 Real nerds take it for granted that their relationship will come to an end.

Probably dweeb, I guess. I dunno. Nerds are usually pretty nice guys and they can be ok. Sometimes they're self absorbed and overly serious, but some guys are nerdy and actually very likeable, sensitive and caring. So I'm ok with nerdy guys.

:ohyes:

If those words have different meanings and connotations, then it follows necessarily that "nerd" is the "nerdiest."

I thought they were all pretty much synonymous.

Dork is the word that geek types use to describe people nerdier than them. :)

I still like the word "dweeb" best, though. How about "space cadet"? Or are we in the outer periphery of nerddom there?

Here's where IMWAN took the test:

Are you a nerd, geek, or dork?

Layman's mistake.

Geek: Someone really passionate about something usually pertaining to popular culture, and often a "cult" or "fringe" thing. Like, for instance, Fraxon and I are huge Beatle geeks, Brotoro is a huge anime and Monty Python geek, etc.

Nerd: Usually more into the technical aspects of something -- often pop culture related, but just as if not more often science or technology related, and if they're into something pop culture oriented, you can just bet they're really into the logistics and technical aspects of it.

Dork, dweeb: People who are utterly socially maladroit.

Geeks are more likely to argue about why Superman or Thor would win in a fight, nerds are more likely to debate the physics of such a fight, and dorks or dweebs are more likely to try to work their way into the conversation uninvited.

And you can certainly overlap. I'm becoming a Beatles nerd as I get more into the deconstruction of the music for my own arrangements and songs and learning about what instruments and amps and recording techniques used on specific songs and so forth.

I think Uncle Twitchy has defined the terms most precisely. Dweeb is the most feeble-sounding word, though, I think I'd rather be a geek than a dweeb. But maybe I'm all four!

The way I've always understood it, dorks are just socially retarded, but dweebs are dorks who also have hygiene issues, like never bathing or eating their own boogers or scabs.
