I've heard some talk that Apple was planning on working its Apple TV into a gaming system. But that's a lot of talk. And Apple doesn't announce things like this in advance. And Steve Jobs—good ol' Atari worker himself—isn't a big fan of games.
He may have soften on them in his old age, though, seeing on how much money is made off those iPhone and iPod game apps.

Stephen Schwartz didn't make a sequel to Pippin, neither should Apple.

This would be a bad choice by Apple. A very costly bad choice.

I wouldn't be so hasty, essentially all the article states is adding downloadable games to the Apple TV, which would essentially cost them next to nothing (a few new peripherals to allow the games to be playable would be about it), and could make them oodles of money and convince people to actually start buying Apple TVs.
Apple is already making millions off games on the portable market, there's no real reason they can't branch out to the home console.
