WooHoo! Successfully in orbit and on their way for the final repair/upgrade mission to the Hubble Space Telescope.

Very cool.

The back-up shuttle was down the ways a bit, ready for launch if needed. They won't be close enough to the space station to use it as a refuge, so if there's a problem the other shuttle will have to make the trip to bring them home.

Thanks for the info, Kurt. I didn't know that. You never do know with these shuttle launches. But it's good that it all worked out just fine.
