Huh?

The boomers are getting into the sixties (both my parents turn sixty this year), and I'm just wondering what happened to that crazy peace-loving future they had all been working for.

Or, weren't they all working for that goal?

:P

They discovered that having money and buying things was ultimately much more satisfying.

Free love and drug use is great when you're 20. Not so much when you're 60.

I believe Don McLean had an answer of sorts, speaking about the concert at Altamont, Ca where the Hells Angels took turns beating the crap out of stoned music fans.

Quote:
Oh and there we were all in one place, a generation lost in space with no time left to start again, so come on, Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack Flash sat on a candle stick because fire is the devils only friend, oh and as I watched him on the stage, my hands were clinched in fists of rage, no angel born in hell could break that satan's spell and as the planes climbed high into the night to light the sacrificial right I saw satan laughing with delight, the day, the music, died.

The sixties ended, the Vietnam War puttered out and the activism that seemed so important fluttered away, with nothing important enough to sustain it. Listening to the music of the seventies - the pop stuff from the early to mid seventies, not disco or rock - it's all about personal relationships. In a way, even stuff like ABBA is more adult than much of the eighties pop.

That would mean that Disco is what was pooped out, then.

According to some astrologers, Maria's right. It hasn't actually come yet.

On the other hand, some say it began in 1844 (or earlier) and mankind has been progressing since then. The best is yet to come--the age is going to last over two thousand years, so it's early yet.

Astrology's not exactly an exact science....

I'm not looking forward to the Aquarian age, since I'm a Pisces. I always did feel like I was born too late!
