I've caught up on my reading of Fraction's Invincible Iron Man. It is good.
My point in this thread is that it seems to me to be the best way to follow what's going on in the Marvel Universe. They can cram all that spin off stuff from Secret Invasion, like Dark Reign, Dark Avengers, etc. I'm not buying all that.
This book focuses in on the best part -- Stark is on the outs, Osbourne is running the new SHIELD (and is after Stark and the database of registered superheroes), and Stark, Pepper, and Maria Hill are the heroic rogue faction trying to save the planet for realsies this time.
If you have any curiosity about the final denouement of this whole Civil War (registration) thing, followed by Secret Invasion, the crux of seems to be captured in the well-written and well-paced Invincible Iron Man.
This is comics done right, to me. I don't mind some outer continuity that affects things. I just want a tight, rewarding story experience in each monthly issue of a single title.
By the way, pick up with Issue 8 and you'll have no trouble picking right up. (9 is out now). What went before was not central to this post-Invasion story.

Silly bastards. Ditto. One of the best (the best?) mainstream superhero titles on the market.

I bought the first trade but haven't read it yet. I had a good feeling about it, so when I dropped the Superman titles, I replaced them with IIM (along with Conan and Criminal).
