I've decided to read only Action Comics to catch the gist of the New Krypton storyline in all the Super-titles.
I didn't decide that at the outset. I picked up Action 871 on a lark, and it was kind of enjoyable. I was able to glean what is happening with the Kryptonians settling on Earth, Brainiac, Luthor, etc. I noticed Johns is writing it, and I figure they gave him the book with all the major beats in the overall story.
I might have hopped off, but then 872 had Superman fighting side by side with the Frankenstein Monster, so I was in again.
The point of this thread is --- fill me and others in on the essentials we need to know of what is happening in the other titles and where this is going. Be a spoiler, I don't mind. I'm not buying anything but Action for now.
Which title will be the title which features the exploits of Kal-El, do you think? I hope Action.

Cool! I used to love The Creature Commandos! As I recall there was also a werewolf guy, and a chick who had snakes for hair (guess what she was called! ). Still sounds like fun!

Yep, those two are on the cover as well. Not much story about them, though. They get "thawed" and start into a fight alongside Superman against these Brainiac bots. We'll see if it was a throwaway or if there will be more.

I don't think Superman is remaining in Action Comics though, Jay.

You also need to buy Superman and Supergirl and whatever special they feel they need to add here and there to follow the story, as they are 'triangled'

I'm not doing that. That's what this thread is for. I'm reading Action at the most.

Well, I don't know how enjoyable that could be. It's a continuing story, making the the Superman books in a state of perpetual crossover, like in the 90's. It's like reading one of every four chapters. If you like the New Krypton storyline, get all the titles, and when it's over you can decide which book you'll keep getting.

No. If it's not enjoyable, I'll stop. This is the most likely scenario, anyway.
You're not the boss of me.

Just to balance out all of Rafael's negativity (clearly driven by jealousy over the Batman RIP debacle), I must now post this cover with Superman fighting side by side with some guy who looks like Franky-wanky.

I like the Triangle concept. I liked it in the original incarnation as well. I wish it would be a permament fixture. Yeah, I'm that one person on earth.
Jay, what you're doing will suffice to get the gist of the story. I suggest you consult "The New Krypton Times", a semi-regular (weekly/bi-weekly?) feature at Comics Newsarama for any fill-in info you can't gleen just from reading Action. But I hear that you're a smart lad and gleening shouldn't be a problem for you. I've read all of Batman RIP without touching a single comic. The reviews and discussions here and elsewhere have told me the whole story. I can't say I'm sorry I didn't buy or read the actual books. You may feel the same about this latest Supey saga.

I've went into a comic store for the first time in months and bought up the run of New Krypton so far. I'm liking it, a lot.
