I just found out he died on New Year's Eve.
I can't say I was a huge fan (although I believe
I bought one of his books...The Hook...whch I
didn't finish) but I knew of him. Did anybody
else?

He also wrote the screenplay for the movie The Grifters and wrote the Parker novels (as Richard Stark) which were adapted (sort of) as Point Blank, The Outfit, and Payback.
