A great read, and includes some of my favorite scenes in Trek history.

We used to carry a glass tumbler that Worf used to drink either blood wine or prune juice. I think I still have one around here. I should take a picture and post it.

This one gets my vote, of course.

Quote:
Miles and Julian sing - DS9: "Explorers"
While Sisko and son are away from the station on their solar sail and Keiko is off doing her own thing, Star Trek’s ultimate buddies got together at Miles’ place to figure out who can hold their booze better, the Irish or the English…the both lost and celebrated with a rousing rendition of "Jerusalem ."

:ohyes: It's a really great sequence because these two very different guys finally admit that they're friends. I also love the scene where the Picard brothers get plastered and when Trip and Malcolm are stuck in the shuttlepod.

Warp pioneer gets Betazed hammered - Star Trek First Contact
Zefram Cochrane is perhaps the most famous drunk for not being a drunk. History had ignored his heavy drinking until the TNG crew was forced to follow a Borg sphere back to the time of first contact. The same movie also gives us Deanna Troi "blending" in as she tries to go shot for shot with Cochrane.

Wow. How do you get an entire planet drunk??

Just a few bottles of Saurian brandy in their water supply. Telepaths really can't hold their liquor.

Isn't Betazed also the way you refer to inhabitants of the planet?

That's "betazoids."

I liked Picard and his brother sitting at home (at the Picard vineyard) covered in mud and singing old songs.

I have a soft spot for Scottie getting hammered, and mourning his last dusty bottle, and then passing out in the doorway. With the stupid Irish jig style humorous music playing.

Data can't use contractions, you fake fan.

(Okay, okay. The writers and directors and editors and Brent Spiner frequently forgot about that rule and f**ked it up left and right throughout the series...but not in that particular scene in "Relics". Here:)

Darin is correct. Betazed is the planet; one who hails from Betazed is a Betazoid. That said, this is also one of those errors that popped up more than once throughout the run of TNG. I watched the third season episode "Meneage a Troi" recently, and one of the Ferengi officers mixes up the terms. I'm pretty sure that happened in a couple of very early eps as well.

And don't get Twitchy started on the Vulcanians.

Early Bajoran episodes referred to the people and/or the planet as "Bajora". Later on, it was "Bajorans" and "Bajor", respectively.

Also, one early episode called a character a transsexual from Transvestite, instead of the other way around.

Even as DS9 got more and more solid throughout the years, Gul Dukat continued to pronounce the word "Bajor" with that kind of drawn-out French "jzh" sound (as in "jejune") while pretty much everyone else used the "hard J" pronunciation, like in "jump" or "just".

Those crazy spoonheads!

Heh, I never noticed that till you pointed it out just now. Probably just a quirk of Marc Ailamo's accent.

Marc Alaimo is from the same city as myself. So I should pronounce "Bajor" the same way he does.

Unfortunately I have never spoken the word aloud, so I have no idea how I say it.

I think the planet was always called Bajor.

And the DS9 Ferengi pronounced "human" as hu-MON a la the very earliest Ferengi episodes of Next Gen -- even though most mid-series Next Gen episodes had Ferengis pronouncing the word in the same way we English speakers do.
