I'm two trades away from wrapping up my reading of Lucifer. At the moment I'm distracted with Silver Age Marvel, but that won't last. It never does. (Small doses. Small doses.)

So I have a reread in mind. Two things are on the plate. Which should it be?

Rereading the Sandman saga.

Or rereading the full Akira saga.

I loved them both. I very much want to reread them both. I just don't know which I should do first. (I will make a thread about both when I read them.)

I'd love to read your thoughts on a revisited Sandman, as I haven't read those since they originally were published and I'm interested to see how they hold up.

I've never read Akira. Saw the movie and it left me with a "meh" feeling.

The comic is terrific (though it may not be your thing nonetheless). The movie is maybe 1/5 of what the comic has as far as story, scope and so on. I tore through it when I first read it. Can't wait to read it again.

Sandman will be interesting to revisit. I read it when I first returned to comics and it blew me away. Now, eight years later, I've read a lot of great comics of all styles and varieties. Curious to see if my broader comic exposure will have me seeing Sandman in a different light.

Somebody already gave that answer, and I already complied.

Or rather, asked and answered.

I've never read Akira. Loved the movie.

That said, read Sandman again. I'll try and read it (again) with you.

I'd also like to hear you comments on stuff by Adrian Tomine.

I added a poll.

Whatever people selected, I expect to start maybe on December 1.

If you loved the movie, I strongly urge you to consider investing in one of the Akira sets. It's pricey at this point, since they're all currently out of print, but for 2,100 pages of great comics it's worth it.

Will you be reading in the bathroom?

I no longer go to the bathroom. I've cut that activity out of my life.

If Akira was still in print, I would read it. Last time I looked I couldn't find it cheap.

That explains why you're so ornery.

I'd go for Akira, I need to pick up the rest of the trades on that though since getting the complete Epic run in color is out of my price range....

Not to mention that the movie tries to squeeze the whole story into two hours. The comic was better, but the movie was good. :ohyes:

$160, which is a little steep, (though it's actually about what it cost to purchase when it was new).

Or you could go nuts and spend $200 on the colorized Epic versions. 38 trades!!

i'm almost tempted.

At one point in time, I had the first year and a half of the Epic run. I forget what happened(I may have stopped reading comics for a short while), but I never finished the run and I no longer have the issues...... :(
