Mainly because of this forum, I am more interested now than ever in comics and superheros. I rarely if ever watch tv. But I noticed on one channel they were playing reruns of a 1980's tv show about Wonder Woman. It's not bad... although half the time they're doing close ups of her outfit... particularly from her chest up


What I was wondering was if there's a chance of anybody doing a Wonder Woman movie any time soon. If it were done right, I would be interested. With all the superhero blockbusters out this summer I was hoping they (The Movie Studios) might consider it. Does any body here know if that could happen?

They have been trying to get one off the ground for a few years now. Most recently, Joss Whedon of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame was working on it. I think we will see one within the next 5 years.

Thanks, Ross. That's good news. I think a Wonder Woman movie would be a success if it were done right. Hopefully we'll hear more about that in the next couple of years.

DC Animated has a new Wonder Woman DVD coming out in February 2009. There's a preview for it on the Batman: Gotham Knight DVD.

There's been talk of a WW movie for several years, but maybe the studios don't think a female hero would be big at the box office. I'm just surmising here, but the comic book movie genre is dominated by male lead characters and previous pre-millenium attempts to do a super heroine-driven movie, like Supergirl in the eighties, still had them as girly-girls. Or if you go back even further, Batgirl in the '60s Batman show was only allowed to do some high kicks and bash bad guys over the head with a breakaway table. These days, audiences would expect their heroines to kick some butt.

I think with the right director and right actors, a Wonder Woman movie could be something. But, will Hollywood take a chance on a female character?? And will they do the comic character justice?

That's too bad, Chris. Female leads are great, I think it's the writers, producers... that mess it up. Also the Studio people obviously aren't treating female leads with the respect they deserve. I think you're right, though. If it's done right... it could work. And if Wonder Woman's a success they'll probably make more movies with Female Superheros. I guess it's getting the first one done that's the hard part. I'm all for it.

I haven't bothered with any superhero movies since the second Spider-Man, the one with Doctor Octopus, but I would definitely go to see a Wonder Woman movie, that would be something different for a change.

The problem with a Wonder Woman movie is that Wonder Woman is not at all popular.

No. There's not one that has carried a popular comic book yet. Group films for now.

If one would make it, I think it would be a vixen. Either a better version of their attempt at Catwoman, or some kind of Vampirella scary thing -- Beckinsale carried that vampire move with the werewolves.

That makes sense. I thought Catwoman wasn't that great and I was really looking forward to it when it came out.

Even though it probably won't ever happen, the one movie I would definitely go see is Spider Woman.

I keep hearing good things here about Spider-Woman. But I also hear other things here. . . . . strange things.

An X-Men spin off might have legs. I, for one, would like to see more of Rogue, Storm and/or Phoenix (treated right).

Something semi spoofy like Charlie's Angels could be fun, too. Handled right.

NO! Please keep George Lucas away from heroes/heroines that I like. Let him make little CGI cartoons and other things. Stay away from the directing chair, Mr. Lucas!
