Seinfeld because it went out on top. The Simpsons suck nowadays.

The peak of the Simpsons was 10 straight years of awesomeness. Ageing poorly (for me) is not disqualifying.
Also, every funny thing that ever happens to me reminds me of either a simpsons or a seinfeld episode. That is pretty impressive.

Tough to say. Simpsons have always been somewhat funny to me at least. But there's a core 8 years that were extra special
First 2 seasons of Seinfeld are weak, as are the last 2 seasons after Larry David left.

I can count on one hand the number of Seinfeld episodes that made me laugh out loud. For the most part, I found it annoying and unpleasant.
Simpsons, on the other hand, has given me far, far more laughs over the years -- particularly in the stellar Seasons 3-10 period... the same years, roughly, that Seinfeld ran, if I recall correctly.
So. Simpsons for the win here.

Tough one. Both are shows I once loved, but which now I am kind of ambivalent towards just because over-exposure has blunted their edges.
I went with "Seinfeld" because I used to be pretty obsessed with it, and I can still relate to its misanthropic worldview.

I can sit and watch any Seinfeld episode today, I cannot do the same for every Simpsons episode.
Seinfeld wins just for leaving the air. Ballsy move on his part.

I hav seen quite anumber of Seinfeld episodes, and I can't remember ONCE really laughing. Lots of chuckles and half-smiles, but that is it. The only reason that I can think of for anyone thinking how "great" it is (and so many people do) is the fact that everybody is always saying how great it is, so everybody else just takes it for granted that it is.
The Simpsons on the other hand, while not as entertaining to me as it used to be, will still make me really laugh a guarantee of at least once per episode, where many of the older episodes had me laugh constantly.
No contest.

Simpsons, by a mile, for its timelessness.
Seinfeld's finale was one of the worst episodes of TV I've ever seen. Hardly a case of going out on top.

Seinfeld's finale was one of the worst episodes of TV I've ever seen. Hardly a case of going out on top. For a show that was so praised by fans and critics, that finale was lambasted. I didn't think it was all that bad myself, but whatever. I've never really watched Seinfeld with any regularity, but I have seen some episodes and they are funny in a quirky kind of way. But The Simpsons wins out over Seinfeld. When The Simpsons was in it's prime (seasons 3 through 7, I'd say), no other show could touch it.

Would it be considered sacrilege that I've didn't/don't watch either show?
I serious don't think I've seen an entire episode of either show.
I'll vote for Coach.

Gotta give all of the respect in the world for Coach, but it isn't in the same league.
Although for the funniest tv show EVER, both Simpsons and Seinfeld both bow before the greatest of greats...SOAP !

I love Seinfeld but it does seem a bit dated now. THe sense of humor it has.

I love 'em both, but I think I go Seinfeld. I explained it to a Simpsons fan once, "Don't get me wrong; if Seinfeld's a 10, then Simpsons is a 9.99999999999999999...."

My two favorite shows of the 90's, hands down. I went with Seinfeld, because I think it was so influential it changed humor itself in America.
But Simpsons kind of did, too.

The Simpsons really opened the door for adult-aimed animation.

Simpsons, no question. I even appreciate the newer episodes more when the hit syndication. Familiarity breeds...familiarity, I guess.

The Simpsons works way better on reruns, whereas Sienfeld just seems more dated every year. I used to dig Sienfeld, but it's becoming Aquaman to me.
Long live Homer! D'oh!

I absolutely loathe Seinfeld, but it's not even the fault of the show or cast. Even as I watched a few episodes and thought they were pretty funny, I was being bombarded with praise about how this show was so different, clever, and how it was "about nothing". It was a by the numbers sitcom, just like every other one on the air, albeit funnier than most. If it was "about nothing" then so was every other sitcom. It irritated me into hating it, much like hearing a popular song on the radio 100000000 times will make you dislike it. In other words, I voted for the Simpsons.
