Just came back from the theatre (probably SPOILERS) A bit too much movement during the action sequences. The animators probably said "Damn, no one can see all that work we put down on that shot!". Well, either that or "Whew, thanks to Michael Bay, we skipped all of the details and finished that scene in two weeks" Personalities: Well, there's obviously Optimus and Megatron. And Bumblebee (love him!), the Decepticon spy (Frenzy, had to look up the name right now), and possibly Ironhide. Otherwise there are two Autobots and six Decepticons with virtually zero personality. Including Starscream There is one line indicating Megatron disliking him, but nothing about him being second in command and wanting to take Megatron's leadership... So, Scorponok gets attacked by the army, is damaged, digs into the sand to hide and... never shows up again? Several silly (in a good way!) lines, my current favorite is Optimus "Parents!" Among favorite small things: The tiny missile that the "Nokia-bot" fires. No scene after the credits, but a couple during the first part (the last one revealing what happened the the one character I was wondering about when the movie ended) Don't know very much about the US rating system, but for a PG-13 picture, there were quite some "almost saying a 'bad word' and getting interrupted" moments. Maybe I missed something, but it seemed like Sam was veeery shocked to hear that Mikaela's father was in jail, and then he was told that she had a record herself. Megan Fox = Hot! Rachael Taylor = Hot! I'm getting the DVD as soon as possible, and hope the greenlighted sequels will be made.

It kinda sucks. Seeing them in motion actually worsens the garbeled noise of their designs. When they fight the two robots just kind bleed together and you can't tell what's going on.
The acting and dialog and bad even for a Bay movie, and the humor is as low end as it comes. There's a couple of fun moments. And i wanted to like it. I really did. I was right on the edge of liking it several times, but ultimately, the big robot fighty bits aren't great enough to make up for the things that aren't robot fighty bits because I actually didn't like even those bits all that much.
And Megatron was a shit villain.

There's gotta be 15 scenes where one or another of the characters intones "Oh no no no no no!!" Nice script writing.
There's a pretty interesting alien invasion movie in here somewhere, but it's welded to an annoying teen romance, dead weight that stops the action in its tracks for long stretches.
You'd think that officious government/authority types would have seen enough movies by now to realize that they should listen to the one scientist who really knows what's going on, instead of telling him/her to get lost or they'll be forcibly removed.

I can't get over the bad designs, and here's why:
Transformers was just a vehicle for really awesome toys, these designs are too busy looking for such toys to work, thus the movie sucks.
I'm sorry, but it's true.

I can't be here.
If I don't get fucking awesome transforming toys to tie into the movie, it isn't a Transformers movie.

I've often thought an all cgi movie using the original cartoon designs would be cool... something like the recent TMNT movie.

60% postive rotten tomatoes, but the cream of the crop critics (the most famous/best) give it 73% positive.
Considering I thought it be about 10% positive, that's pretty good

I don't think I've seen any movie toys or reviews of them yet.

I've seen movie toys, they don't transform, hence they suck.

Just got back, 1st half of the movie = Fantastic all the good parts of Armageddon, middle a little clunky rescued by good ending. Really liked it , and my 6 year old loved it, When Optimus makes his appearance he screams "Optimus, Yes!"
Overall Id give it a really good-Think Pirates of the Caribean -original

I took my 9 year old nephew and we both loved it! I thought it was one of the better "popcorn" movies I've seen in quite a while and I love love LOVE that Peter Cullen returned to do the voice of Optimus Prime! Since I was with my nephew, I could have done without the "almost-swearing" and holy-crap-on-a-stick, was I uncomfortable when Sam's parents asked him if he had been masturbating - fortunately the "Uncle, what does THAT mean?" question never came and the whole thing was quickly forgotten!

"My name is Optimus Prime, and these are my Autobots."
Huge applause after that. Huge.

Oh yeah, and as me and the fam were leaving the theater, I saw this woman in her late 40's call to her husband, "C'mon, Optimus, let's roll out!".
