Slash has paid his respects to Hollywood star Dennis Hopper who died this morning (May 29) aged 74, after battling prostate cancer.
The ex-Guns N' Roses guitarist paid tribute to the legendary film star, who was best known for his famous roles in Easy Rider, Apocalypse Now and Blue Velvet, on his Twitter page.
He wrote: "You take the great ones for granted until they're gone. RIP Dennis Hopper."
Hopper was surrounded by friends and family at his home in the Los Angeles beach community of Venice.
His manager announced in October 2009 that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
He was last seen in public in March when he was honoured with a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
Bloc Party and Friendly Fires producer Paul Epworth also offered his respects, tweeting: "Very sad to post RIP Dennis Hopper... Thanks for the characters you created, especially 'mad frank'. Your genius will be missed..."
