Decided, on a whim, to watch Columbo yesterday, followed by Magnum PI. Then I had the brilliant idea of a LoEG type thing, but with 70s/80s TV detectives, as a movie.

So, who would you include, and who would you cast?

Lt. Columbo - Mark Ruffalo



Jessica Fletcher - Emma Thompson



James Rockford - John Krasinski



Thomas Magnum - Jason Lee

Rockford and Magnum both glare at you sternly for those picks.

I agree. Rockford and Magnum should be much sexier.

I went as much for personality as look. Magnum is a bit goofy and charming, which I think Jason Lee could pull off. Rockford's sort of wry and weary.

You guys can go the casting couch route.

Nathan Fillion would be a better Rockford.

Yeah. He could do it. But he's his own TV detective.

Fillion actually did occur to me, but I passed for that reason. I also thought about Bruce Campbell, but he's too old at this point.

No, seriously....I've never watched Columbo, or Rockford Files, or Magnum PI.
I do love me some Murder, She Wrote though.

and the only reason I even know that is because I have a friend named Remington, after that show.

Ah, I've heard the name and seen the movies, but he never stuck in my head as particularly memorable.

I want to touch his dangly bits.

If I were gay, I'd totally be gay for Michael Fassbender.
