Damn nice. Lois hasn't looked that good since the last time Garcia-Lopez drew her pre-Byrne.

If you ask me, she hasn't looked that good since the first Superman movie. ;)

That was a great issue. It gets the Liso seal of approval!

Action Comics. I have to say, Gary Frank really makes the character look like some guy that starred in a 1970s movie. I forget the guy's name though...

When you're reading the Johns/Franks Superman, you can hear John Williams in the background.

Very true, Kurt. It really does have that feel to it.

I love Gary Frank's stuff.

And his work on Action Comics has been stellar.

It amazes me when I hear or read (some of it here) people bitching about his take on Superman.

Gorgeous, gorgeous stuff.

That's what I thought immediately when I saw the face--Christopher Reeve.

Chris, while I live the pic above, a LOT of the work he did in the LSH arc had characters with those weird staring zombie-eyes, it was a little distracting

I don't understand the bitching.

It may not be your cup of tea, but for a comics realist, the guy is up there with the best.

I didn't particularly like McGuinnes being used on the Superman titles, but I don't think that McGuinnes is a bad artist. He's fantastic at what he does, but my preference is to have an Ordway or Swan or a super-realist like Cassaday or Frank.

The big staring eye thing is sort of a Gary Frank trademark isn't it? But it's honestly never bothered me. I love his style, I love his line work, and I think he's a fantastic storyteller in the classic tradition. Somehting that there just doesn't seem to be enough of in modern comics.

When Frank got the gig, Wizard published his Superman sketchbook.

He stated quite clearly that Christopher Reeve was his model for Superman.

And it shows.

And it's awesome.

S'why I started the thread. :)

Good. Margot Kidder/Lois Lane was the only LL to ever have an interesting personality, or in the case of Superman Returns, a personality.

I always preferred Lois with raven-black hair anyway. That's how she was in the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s... until 1986.
