They're showing Spider-man 3 on network TV tonight. My son just absolutely cannot get the thing about Flint Marko killing Uncle Ben. It makes no sense. It breaks my heart having to explain it to him.

Maybe. I hate to disappoint.

Heh, like most Superhero movies, there's always one or two scenes I'd
like to cut out of the movie (and pretend that they were never there).

I agree. I liked SM III, but didn't care for the retcon of Uncle Ben's death.

And they made Sandman into a sympathetic character, which didn't sit right with me.

Wonder if that's foretelling of the earnings for the new movie?

The critics will be out with their daggers when the next Superhero movie fails to meet expectations.

I saw there were some glowing reviews on the Twitterverse after early screenings.

Be ready for a nerd civil war once someone publicly declares it to be on a par with Avengers.

The Whedon zombies are just looking for a reason to revolt.

If you've been watching the NBA Finals, you now know why they went with the basketball theme for Peter's costume. This year's Finals are one big Amazing Spider-Man commercial.

The Super Preview of the movie. Every moment of released footage, edited into a mini-Spider-Man movie.

A nice little article on the perpetual sneak preview craze.

Don't watch the video unless you want to see a huge chunk of the Spider-Man movie before seeing the Spider-Man movie.

That review is what I was afraid of.

Spoiler: show
They should have skipped over the origin for this one.

This James Bond Theory for Spider-man is full of correctness. I weary of all the reboots and re-starts. I hope they just never flop and they keep making them and making them, never starting over. Occasionally, a flashback to his origin or something for new viewers.

Quoted for wistful nostalgia.

I remember this idealistic young man:

On Page 11 of this thread, Li'l Jay wrote:
I love this. They are right about the true strengths of the material, and for once the owners don't wait one movie too long and have to "reboot."

I don't see this as a reboot or an origin retelling. I see this as the James Bond treatment I have longed for in a superhero franchise -- and endless stream of movies, change the actors every now and then, and the public understands the basic conceits of the character.

On Page 12 of this thread, Li'l Jay wrote:
Where are you guys getting complete reboot? What if it's not a complete reboot? Some time passed between the first and the second. Maybe its just high school adventures.

It's a tragic turn as I start to smell the coffee, as in "Hey, where are we going? And how did we get in this handbasket?"
