Who here has read this graphic novel?

I just wandered through the first chapter and am astounded at how great it is - moving, sad, dark, real, tragic, hopeful. I'm going to get emotionally exhausted working through this I can tell. I'm already feeling winded.

It's great. I didn't like the ending. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts when you finish it.

Yes. Yes, you will.

I loved it. At times beautiful, at times painful, Thompson really tapped into something here, opening himself to the world in a profound way. I felt almost dirty reading it, like I was peeking in through his bedroom window and witnessing things I should not have been witnessing. There is an undercurrent of sadness in the work, but also this tiny, tiny glimmer of hope. It's a wonderfully realized creation.

Wow. Maybe the most personally resonating piece of literature I've read since “The Shipping News” or maybe even "Catcher in the Rye". I'm affected.

This work drips in emotion: love, hope, fear, confusion, hate, sorrow, courage, clarity. So many moments resonated with me. Whimsical moments. Heart-breaking moments. Thank goodness the book wasn’t as dark as I feared it might be after the initial chapter, although it is clear how those childhood memories hang over Craig’s head and heart. Secrets unspoken. Even now, I’m a swirling mess of emotions and thoughts… not just about the work, but about my own life.

Obviously, this is one of the most powerful “comic books” I have ever had the pleasure to digest. No complaints. I was satisfied with the ending. It had to end somehow. Life isn’t predictable. Our thoughts and actions aren’t always predictable. How we get from point A to point B and all the stops in between is often a mystery that we solve on our journey.

This work will be bouncing around inside me for quite some time I expect.

I need to read it again.

Anyone else read this? Thoughts?

When I put bookshelves in my living room, this was among the comics I choose to display along with the novels and other books on the shelves.
