Van Sciver and Johns are going to try to do what they did for Green Lantern for the Flash.

Well, I do like most of his writing. And Van Sciver loves to draw auras.

It was an accident, Robert.

Does Barry really need fixing?

He died a good death. Not like Hal's fiasco.

Ethan probably had to start on this in 2005. No wonder DC's universe stuff has been drawn out. They probably had to launch Countdown just to give Ethan and extra year to draw this series.

Spoiler: show
There's a new Flash in town, and he's here to stay.

In one of the most anticipated announcements out of San Diego Comic-Con for comic book fans, DC Comics announced on Thursday that a mini-series early next year called The Flash: Rebirth will re-introduce the once-dead character Barry Allen, bringing the previous Flash back for good into the fictional world he left more than 20 years ago.

Written by Geoff Johns with art by Ethan Van Sciver, the previously-unnamed comic book project had been teased for months by the two top-name creators, who orchestrated a similar return of formerly-deceased Green Lantern Hal Jordan in the 2005 comic series Green Lantern: Rebirth. The return of Hal Jordan under the hands of Johns and Van Sciver marked a dramatic resurgence of the Green Lantern comic book, with the title now ranking as one of DC's best-selling comics.
[...]There's more if you follow the link. Including a Goef Johns/Ethan Van Sciver interview.

:yay:
Spoiler: show
GJ: Barry's the central character. I don’t want to say much more than that.
:yay:

Spoiler: show
EVS: It's centered around Barry, but we touch on all the other Flashes as well.

GJ: Just like Green Lantern: Rebirth touched on all the GLs.

EVS: I don't think anybody... I mean, if you're a Jay Garrick fan, you'll be happy to see this book. If you're a Wally West fan, you'll be happy with this book. If you're a fan of any Flash, you'll be a fan of this book...

I'll be there. One of the things I really liked about GL: Rebirth was that it also happened to bring back Guy Gardner and kept Kyle Rayner around (in fact, I thought Kyle was made even more interesting by Hal's return). I'm hoping Flash: Rebirth also brings back Bart as Kid Flash. A Flash in every team, that's what I say.

I would be excited except that I expect someone's arm to be ripped off or other stupid DC crap like that.

I may have to pick this up, hopefully Van Sciver has enough of a head start on it.

Same here. I stopped buying comics because they're obviously writing these books for some other audience than I. Still pick up trades that catch my eye, both new and old stuff, but the days of buying a series or mini sight unseen are over for me.

Like i said in chtulu-whullu, it could be a good idea to invite ex-JBFer Ethan Van S. to join IMWAN. He was a very nice guy.

Yep. I stopped to read Goef Johns books because of that.
But for Barry Allen i'm ready to give him another chance.
I used to really enjoy his books before Infinite Crisis.

That didn't happen in GL: Rebirth... (at least I don't think it did).

Johns wrote that before his new obsession with dismemberment, Darin. By an early issue of the GL ongoing series, he'd started featuring it.

So he and George Lucas have something in common. Big deal. ;)

I'll get the trade on this, even though I don't see it as a needed continuity fix.

Barry had a good death, but Crisis has been revisited to the point where Barry may have died for nothing. My Barry is gone anyway.
