I was perusing a thread on another board and was smacked hard in the face by an old memory and now I have to track down one of these.

When I was a kid I had this super-cool playset. It was a 3-D cardboard city of Marvel Comics' New York that fit together about the size of a large game-board. It probably stood about 1.5-2 feet tall. And it had flat carboard cutouts of all the Marvel super-heroes. They would be in costume on one side and in secret-ID on the other. God, I just thought of this. I loved it. Most of the buildings had openings so you could see inside Peter Parker's apartment, Dr. Strange's house and so forth. There was one section of brick wall that opened up so it looked like it was smashed open. That's where the Hulk was supposed to go.

What was this called? The memory just came rushing back. I HAVE to
find this.

Perhaps our resident librarian would be able to find the proper name of this? (Lord knows Linda's found more obscure stuff.)

If it's the one I'm thinking of, then it was produced in the mid- to late-1970s. I'm going on a picture hunt...

Wow, this sounds cool. I don't remember it at all (but I didn't have cable or American TV at the time, so I could easily have missed it).

Eureka!! :D

The good news is that I found it; the bad news is that according to the site where I located it, they just sold theirs for $229!

Kevin, you kick so much ass I can't even express it. That is it and it was one of the coolest things I ever had. I would pay $229 just to have it again. Well done, sir.

A quick Google search reveals that the auction site where you found it is located 25 minutes from me in the town I grew up in.

Haven't read the reviews but it does look like it would be a pain to put together....

I had the Super Powers Hall of Justice. I just gave it away to one of my friends' sons last fall, along with a bunch of action figures. He's five and was totally excited. I knew I had been lugging that around from move to move all this time for some good reason.
