Actually, Maddox can be pretty damn funny, too. He had cracked me up many times. But like any shtick, it's only funny up until it becomes old, and if you don't abandon it by then old will become annoying. To his credit, he almost never updates his site anymore. That's a GOOD thing. It means you get maybe two blasts of Maddox a year ... just enough to remind you that he can be cutting and funny, but not enough for you to realize that his character has gotten stale.

If he was still updating regularly I'd say yeah, totally played out, but he doesn't. One time in 2009, enough to say, "That's still pretty funny." Had it been more, the reaction is probably, "Dude, you're still doing this shit?"

It's like Weird Al. He drops a new parody, what, once every three or four years now? If he did a steady stream of them every year like he did in the 1980s (seven albums in seven years between 1983 and 1989) we'd be sick to death of him, but he doesn't. Now it's like, you haven't seen or heard from him in three, four, five years, he does some goofy Star Wars or Internet parody, and it's all good.

Weird Al is great, Eric. When he did the Star Wars parody he whined that his CD only went gold instead of the unsual platinum. He said he was gonna have to sell his maserati.



As for Maddox, I've read his site a couple of times, but not for over a year now. The "1/16th of an inch" blog was funny 'cause it's true. That's supposed to be how close a couple of keys are to the Cap key which can be turned off to prevent people from looking like moron's when they post messages in all caps!
