So. A year or so back I made the decision to stop buying "big ticket" items from my LCS (which offered me a 10% discount on said items) and to start buying them solely on-line at a website that was offering 30% off and free shipping for orders over $100. Everything was going along just dandy until a couple of months back I decided to check out AmazWAN and found that I could save as much as 34% off of these books and I could get free shipping with any order over $25!!!! Needless to say, it's been AmazWAN only since then.

Amazon USA:
http://www.amazon.com/?tag=imwan-20

Amazon Canada:
http://www.amazon.ca/?tag=imwanca-20

Amazon UK:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/?tag=imwan-21

Anyways, I've decided to track my AmazWAN purchases here in this thread (and would encourage others to do likewise), so that everyWAN can see just how easy it is and how much money can be saved by shopping through our second-favorite message board. :)

Today's purchase (10/03/07):

Essential Spider-Man Volume 8
cover price: $16.99
AmazWAN price: $11.55

Marvel Masterworks: Golden Age USA Comics Volume 1
cover price: $59.99
AmazWAN price: $37.79

Spider-Man Visionaries: Roger Stern Volume 1
cover price: $24.99
AmazWAN price: $16.49

Spirit Archives Volume 21
cover price: $49.99
AmazWAN price: $32.99

Superman: Action Comics Archives Volume 5
cover price: $49.99
AmazWAN price: $32.99

Total cover price: $201.95
AmazWAN price: $131.81
Shipping: $0.00

Total Savings: $70.14!!! ($78.09 if you factor in the $7.95 I saved on shipping)

THANKS, AmazWAN!!!!! :yay:

Today I received from AmazWAN Volumes 2 through 4 of Ex Machina trades.

Each had a list price of $12.00, actual price $10.39. And ching, free shipping. Total savings, $4.77.

And Frank, I can't believe you're just now figuring out that Amazon deep discounts and ships free.

It WAS really stupid of me. I'd been buying CDs and DVDs from AmazWAN for quite a while. For some reason I just didn't make the connection until a couple of months ago!

Be forewarned, now you must learn an additional skill. It's called the "awkward LCS moment."

You're at the counter with your best LCS employee. He's hawking a trade, or Showcase, Essential, etc. In a friendly way. Like "you know you love this stuff."

And you're thinking I know, I'm getting it off Amazon.

But you don't want to lie. So you parse every word back to him for truth. But you have an expression on your face like you need to fart.

I find this reply is solid gold: "Heh, heh. You know I've got a stack this high to read at home. My eyes are bigger than the time I have." Note the truth.

And he's like "Yeah. Heh heh." Bastard

As I said above (skimmer), I stopped purchasing the big-ticket books from my LCS over a year ago. He's still in business, so I don't think it's hurt him THAT badly. ;)

I just bought the Captain America Omnibus via AmazWAN, for $50. I bought the Spidey and FF Omnibuses (vol2) earlier this year, for $62 each. It's such a no-brainer, if the option is available to you. Huge savings, and every purchase helps IMWAN pay for itself as well.

IMWAN has to pay for itself?

Whatever IMWAN pays, it isn't worth it for what we get from this place :)

I've been in that situation, and you're right, I didn't want to lie ... so I told the clerk, "No need to order it for me, I'll get it from Amazon when I get home."

Thrilled, he was not.

Yep. Amazing was my first Omnibus, and I can barely lift it.

I feel bad.

I've made a few purchases from Amazon over the last year.

And I always do it on the fly, forgetting to go through AmazWAN first!! :(

However, whatever I buy the wifey for her birthday is coming through the WAN!

First purchase made!

Had nothing to do with comics or movies!

Saved over 20 bucks.

Naturally, I think I ordered the wrong set of speakers for the iMac, but I'll let her deal with the return.

:)

If I buy something from an Amazon marketplace seller, will IMWAN get anything? That's how I typically purchase things from Amazon, as they're usually cheaper.

Okay, on Sunday (10/7) I recieved email confirmation that the rest of my order had shipped.

Today (10/11), my Masterworks arrived. I'm expecting the rest either tomorrow or Saturday!

Thanks, AmazWAN! :yay:

I made my first AmazWAN purchase today: FIVE FISTS OF SCIENCE by Matt Fraction and Steven Sanders.

FIVE FISTS OF SCIENCE
Quote:
True story: in 1899, Mark Twain and Nikola Tesla decided to end war forever. With Twain's connections and Tesla's inventions, they went into business selling world peace. So, what happened? Only now can the tale be told - in which Twain and Tesla collided with Edison and Morgan, an evil science cabal merging the Black Arts and the Industrial Age. Turn of the century New York City sets the stage for a titanic battle over the very fate of mankind.
