Any creator that's been around for a while seems to eventually create or write a character that becomes their own personal mouthpiece...

Stan Lee once claimed that J. Jonah Jameson was a parody of himself and how much of a blowhard he was as an editor.... meanwhile, the Silver Surfer captured Stan's more "serious" side.

It's been said that the Thing's personality and Yancy Street roots were based on the King, Jack Kirby.

Obviously, the Question and Mr. A were reflections of Steve Ditko's ethical code and I suspect that a teenage Peter Parker reflected a lot of Steve's struggles in high school.

Peter David says that when he writes Rick Jones, he approaches the character as his own voice.

Erik Larsen's stated that the Dragon's personality is basically a glamorized version of his own...

I can see that - but I've read interviews with Gerber where he says that Howard the Duck is a slightly exaggerated version of himself, as well.
