What song have you heard so much that you want to smash your head against a wall every time you hear it? or smash the radio against the wall...that would be smarter I guess...even better if it's a song you didn't mind in the beginning but have just heard it too much.

For me the top one right now is Beautiful by James Blunt. It's bad enough I have to hear a guy moan and kill himself because some chick in a coffee shop that he didn't know was already taken. I have to hear it every 20 minutes for a year!

The place I work at in the fall pipes radio into our whole building. They wont let us wear mp3 players because of safety issues and we can't turn it down because they put it on the PA and so they might make an announcement...it sucks.

I never need to hear any more songs by the Eagles, Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Bob Segar, Bruce Springsteen or Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Ever.

I've heard enough, thank you. It's imprinted on my RNA on a cellular level now, and I didn't want it there in the first place.

"Bang the Drum," by Todd Rundgren

I'm sure I'll think of more.

Let me add Phil Collins and post-Peter Gabriel Genesis to that list. Good call, Frank.

On Long Island, Billy Joel's "Piano Man" is practically the national anthem. As a life-long Long Islander, I could happily go the rest of my life without hearing it again. And I'm a fan.

Sheryl Crow's cover of "The First Cut is the Deepest." Seems like everytime I'm where a radio is playing, that song comes on.

Anything by U2.

I know there are U2 fans here.

And I don't care.

;)

Seconded. Last week that was being played on a pop radio station. So, I tuned into a classic rock station, and the song was playing there too.

American Pie - Don McLean
Margaritaville - Jimmy Buffet
Hotel California - Eagles
Don't Stop Believin' - Journey (been hearing this non-stop since the Sopranos finale)
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Another One Bites the Dust - Queen
Two Tickets to Paradise - Eddie Money
The Stroke - Billy Squier
Anything by Bon Jovi

I've haven't had to listen to Springsteen excessively but I never got into his music either.

I think most Canadians would agree to me that anything by Rush is overplayed in these parts.

Snowbird too. though I haven't had to listen to it in awhile. Yay!

I don't find myself getting tired of listening to the Guess Who but I do get pretty sick of having to hear about them.

Everything ever recorded by Bryan Adams, especially Run To You. God how I hate that song.

Frank is anti-percussion.

Making you, I suppose, pro-percussion. Being the Anti-Frank and all.

That's interesting, though. I hadn't noticed the connection. But it's not about the percussion; it's about repetition. I've just heard those songs too many times.

I used to feel this way about a lot of songs but at some point I pretty much stopped listening to music on the radio. Now I can even appreciate "Free Bird" again.

Anything by the Dixie Chicks. Before they got themselves in trouble with their fan base by insulting the President, they were on the country stations all the time. At the time I worked in an office where a co-worker was usually tuned in to the main country station and it seemed like not an hour went by without hearing one or another of their songs. I got SO sick and tired of them!

Since I mainly listen to rock radio, back when I used to, I got tired of singles from these albums-- Niravana's Nevermind, Pearl Jam's Ten, STP's Core, Metallica's Black... bands who I'm sick of all together are Alice in Chains, Van Halen, Def Leppard...actual songs-- Come on Feel the Noise, Rock You Like a Hurricane, Under the Bridge, Once Bitten, Twice Shy, Killing in the Name, Here I Go Again, and Cherry Pie.

BTW, nothing against those bands and songs, a lot of 'em I used to like-- it's just that they killed them with overplay.

No cursing in the playroom. Didn't you get the memo from Linda?
