In the other thread, I wrote: I'm totally pumped about Millar/Hitch on Fantastic Four. The Ultimates was my favorite book for the past two years (and you guys that don't like it -- give it one more chance in trade, it was good. I'm talking history making good).
I'm even more pumped that they both like the JB run. Speaks volumes.
I'm even more pumped that they wanted to do it in the main title. I'm sick of the supposedly best work coming in special events, miniseries, and crossovers. I agree with MM -- you should want to pull a famous book into the top of the sales charts, anchoring the characters in a quality run for years to come.

Hitchy's already got four issues in the can, and it doesn't come out until 2008. I think they are making him show he can put a lot of product together before they launch.
That problem is addressed at lengthy in the Newsarama interview. It seems the problem with the Ultimates was a form of anxiety -- like artist's block or something. He says he feels really inspired and the FF issues are coming with no trouble.
So there.

Yesterday, Quesada personally told me (well, me and a few hundred other people =) ) that Mark Millar has written ten issues and Hitch has five issues completely drawn...and their first issue doesn't hit the stands until January. That sounds like a good lead to me, Eric.
Like Adam Hughes on ALL-STAR WONDY WOO-WOO, the powers-that-be just might be thinking long-term this time.

Hmmm. Sounds like they've done a nice job getting themselves set to sustain a run here. Thanks for the info, guys. I'll surely be checking this out.

I may have to give it a try, but with Hitch's track record I won't hold my breath on it being on time.

Im pumped for this...I like how Millar wants to mainly focus on new threats (and some old faves)..but mainly new stuff...i like the whole "exploration/discovery" angle of the FF..and Millar is great at cool sci fi concepts and new villains.
Hitch will be ok..people forget that he did the Authority monthly without missing a beat..Ultimates was a disaster scheduling wise but many factors were at play that are not at play here with the FF.
Should be fun!

Sounds exciting, though I'm definitely waiting for the hardcover on this one.

I'm interested in this cover they presented. Who's the redhead? Linda??? Also, if that's Johnny Storm, he sure isn't being drawn as handsome as in the past.
On second thought, I suppose the redhead could be Crystal.

I didn't care for Millars' Spider-Man run,but I did love his Ultimate FF(he says he didn't do anything for the Bendis/Millar issues....which left me a little cold anyways)
He writes a pretty good Doom too,so i wouldn't be surprised that Doom will be appearing.
