Well, not neccessarily brand new, but new to me as I've just bought them. My LCS had a big sale today, 60% off back issues and 30% off everything else.

Other than Thor and WW Hulk, I haven't been really reading too many books lately. But, I did want to take advantage of this sale, so I went directly for the action figures, which I put on top of my TPB shelf. I snagged a DKR Batman and Robin (30% off Batman and Robin was only 5 bucks)and it put me in a Batman mood. I'm not the biggest fan of the more modern Batman stuff, so I went straight to the old stuff...

Batman 433 thru 435-- Many Death of the Batman
Batman Annual 8- Messiah of the Crimson Sun (I bought it for the weird cover)
Detective Comics 570, 571, 573- Alan Davis baby!
Batman: Death in the Family TPB-- What's interesting here is that the normal TPB price on this was $3.95! Must have been printed in the late 80's/early 90's. Anyway, pure Jim Aparo sweetness.
Batman: Lonely Place of Dying TPB- Another 3.95 trade. I paid only 2.77 for each trade! That's cheaper than a new book for five issues of content.
Batman: Strange Apparitions TPB- Marshall Rogers and Walt Simonson on art. A run I've been wanting to get.

And I decided to grab a few more recent books-- Spirit 5 thru 8 and All Star Batman 6. I don't care what anyone says, this book is genius in its sheer stupidity.

I commend you on your choices. There's lots of "Jim Aparo sweetness" in most of those books! Plus, the Barr/Davis issues of "Detective Comics" were indeed awesome. If you ever find 572, make sure you snatch it up as well. It's an excellent anniversary issue.

I'll post what I think as I read...I forgot to ask the board what books they've been enjoying in the last few weeks. New backissues or trades? Something you read long ago that you've rediscovered?

I read very little new stuff; JSA, Astro City, & Spider-Girl. When I have the time I like to re-read a favorite run from the past; usually the 80s. Most recently it was Batman & the Outsiders.
