They don't have to be overly stylish or anything like that. Just something that can pass a "must wear dress shoes" work policy.
Left foot has plantar fasciitis.
Used to be that I could teach four days a week, sometimes 17 hour days in my tennis shoes, and it would only start to hurt come Thursday. Then, it would recover enough to get me through to the next Thursday.
Now, even with the same inserts and arch supports I was using, but in the dress shoes, I can't really go a day without it starting to hurt, and it never seems to recover.
So, what's out there that you people like?

Ecco. Hands down.
Quite a few lawyers I know wear them, because they have to wear shoes every day that can be worn to court, etc. But over the course of years and years, they want a shoe that is comfortable and good for their feet.
They have many models. They adhere to European sizing, so be prepared to ignore the number, and go only by trying on.
I can't tell you model names, except that I have a couple of pairs of Seattle Walkers. But there's a few other models that are common (lace up and slip on both).

I've been wearing Johnston & Murphy shoes for over 20 years. Their nicer shoes have good insoles and are very comfortable. If you can find an outlet store you'll get better deals there.

I've had a couple pair of Rockport DresSports that I really liked & wore out. I have a pair of Florsheim ComforTechs that are even better, but are on their last legs.
My current pair are Clarks Soros with Spenco Ironman Gel insoles replacing the stock ones. I'll probably do the same with a pair of Bostonian Dennisons I got for my wedding.

It's not my fault that the marketers at Rockport and Florsheim overdid the compound word thing in the mid '90s.

As I recall, I noticed that the all-black model of New Balance I wear was listed as an approved shoe by the National Podiatrical Health Board (or some damn thing or another...wait...I think they were approved for purchase through Medicaid or whatever). Get Chibi Doc to write you a prescription and claim they are medically necessary.

Back when I worked in radio and actually was on my feet more than I am now, I used to get mailman's shoes, which ostensibly looked like dress shoes but were made for lots and lots of walking. Nowadays, I get Rockport walkers. When I went to Amazon.com to find a picture of what I presently wear, I noticed that they have a Rockport postal shoe. Ecco was the first name that popped into my head too. I had a pair that I wore for years literally because they were far and away the most comfortable pair I ever had...
