Bernie Rosenthal is a fictional character in the Marvel Universe, ex-girlfriend of Captain America. Bernie resided in New York City and was a glass blower. She later went to law school, graduated, and became a lawyer.

Another, more in-depth page, which says they broke up because she went away to law school. Her last appearance was as a defense attorney for one bad guy who was on trial for killing another bad guy.

The latter. The issue had a backup story where in which Bernie was dreaming. (She had recently discovered that her boyfriend was really Captain America.)

In my mind, AEM was really when Mike Carlin put himself on the map. Before that, he was just the guy who did the cartoons in the back of Crazy Magazine.
After that, he was the guy who had the Avengers on Letterman.

What I always hated was Bernie went from neing a glassblower (very original) to a Jewish Lawyer (Can you say "stereotype").
Another great example of a character nobody but Roger Stern could write well...

Wasn't Bernie Jewish from day one? I get what you're saying about the lawyer business, but she was always written as Jewish, was she not?

I don't know about the lawyer bit but with a name like Bernie Rosenthal we can only imagine that Stern/Byrne envisioned her as Jewish.
